According to the Michigan GOP, the Democrats call for higher taxes will harm the nation's economy.
We agree.
"Failed Obama Leadership Causes Historic Downgrade; Signals a Need to Curb Spending by Washington"
From Their release today: LANSING -- In the aftermath of last week's historic downgrade of America's credit rating, Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak said today that any talk in Washington of raising taxes on Americans now is absurd. Hey folks, Its not a conspiracy that RightMichigan.com has been down more than a time or two recently. The fact is, with the heat, and the Romanian surplus servers not being able to handle it, the connections fall apart once in a while.
Anyhow, for now, we are back. Currently in the works, are US Senate candidate workups, and republican policy regarding primaries.
The MI GOP has pointed out recently that Stabenow is vulnerable, which gives hope to any of those who have thrown a hat in the ring already, and perhaps even more as time goes by. From a recent Press Release: LANSING - With her record of supporting ObamaCare, the "stimulus," and higher taxes on the middle class, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow would lose the election if held today, a recent poll indicates. ~ More Below ~ (7 comments, 476 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Class is in session.
I know public teachers who are Republican. Quite a few in fact. So what, right? The point should not be lost that in any organization, there are political preferences that vary. In any work environment, there are ideas that are different, and in the teaching environment, contrary to the wishes of progressives who would wish to program each generation of children with all manner of degenerate reasoning and backward analytical skills, there are conservative REPUBLICANS who simply wish to work , and teach and fill the minds of those children with what schools are for. Math, Science, Reading, and writing. And maybe a little competition training through sports and debate. Unfortunately, those things, that are not enough for the progressive activities of the teachers unions, specifically the MEA, take a back seat to the unproductive pursuits of political goals by over zealous leftist activists within those unions. The MEA and others like it, utilizing dues forced from Republicans within their membership work counter to the wishes of those members. And no further evidence of this is needed than what has been presented recently by the Michigan Republican Party {Below} (23 comments, 882 words in story) Full Story By U M Regent Watch, Section News

With the blessing of the current MIGOP chair, Ron Weiser, and the new Governor-elect, Rick Snyder, Bobby Schostak is poised to become our next GOP chair. All across the state, new members have been elected to positions within the Republican Party, who came to the party through frustration with the system and the tea party movement. They are all being massaged to support Schostak because, he, after all, raised so much money for the GOP in the last election cycle, and it is believed that is what helped put the GOP over the top. This attitude rankles tea partiers and campaigners for conservatism, especially since, according to the Detroit News, Schostak has given personal contributions "to Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Vice President Al Gore and Gov. Jennifer Granholm." The MIGOP has some work to do. The convention in late January will most likely be as cantankerous as the last one, with the tea party factions all looking for a conservative to lead the party forward, and they will not go quietly into the night. What I see happening is that the moderates in the party, willing to accept anything to continue what they perceive as what they did right, pushing for one of their own. So, the GOP in Michigan has a fight on their hands, will we sit by and believe that money is the reason the GOP won? Or is it because of the tea party that came in full force to elect conservatives, and where they failed, they will hold those that won accountable? "Principle Over Party," was the mantra, perhaps that will be changed to "Money or Soul?" Cross-posted at jenkuznicki.com (12 comments) Comments >> By Republican Michigander, Section News
Bobby Schostak is the current financial director for the Michigan GOP under Ron Weiser. He's now running for chair. He's been endorsed by Rick Snyder. That is interesting since I believe he supported Mike Cox (as I did) in the primary. He's also been endorsed by some good friends of mine who are solid conservatives.
I first want to mention that I have not made a decision yet in whom I am supporting. I have not endorsed Bobby Schostak, nor have I closed the door on him. There is some very good positives and very high negatives with him that need to be addressed, which will determine if I support him. Snyder's support makes no difference to me one way or the other. As financial director, he was as good as it gets. If he was running for that again, I'd endorse him today. The amount in candidate assistance was at or near record amounts. I've heard some numbers which I won't repeat because it may be confidential information, but it is significant. This helped lead to a 20 seat gain and a takeover in the state house. We needed 13 to takeover. We have 7 seats to spare. Bobby Schostak deserves a lot of credit for that, along with Ron Weiser. However, my concerns is with his donation history. Schostak is a builder with a large family business. Businesses are often bipartisan in their support. I understand that and that's how the game is often played. I don't like it, but I understand it. Most of the donations made were by all of the brothers and I've heard one of them is a democrat.
These are the candidates who Bobby Schostak donated to. These are under his own name, not his family members or their PAC. I listed both the R's and the D's. (6 comments, 1629 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Tomorrow I begin volunteering for the GT GOP at the county fair in Traverse City.
Why? Because our legislative team will have to be smarter and more conservative than ever, and the lack of liberal legislators lessens the opportunity for progressive measures to wind up on the governor's desk. The best bet for avoiding any new taxes, or any new crony capitalism is a strong conscience in the State house and senate. When voting, It is critical that hand sitting does NOT happen with regard to our State Rep and State Senate candidates. I will happily hand out the support material for all candidates and talk about our selected conservative Republicans running for those races. Volunteers for post primary activities can leave contact information and we can put together a winning plan. 2-6pm.. See you there? (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
I could hardly refrain from laughing..
The Michigan Republican Party Issued this release today:
As I fought off "Milk through the nose" worthy guffaws, I realized there is a remarkable similarity to the common math issues that the Democrats seem to repeatedly reveal.. Obama thinking there are 57 or 58 states.. Spending more on health care saves money.. etc.. Those kind of things.. (1 comment) Comments >>
