    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

What better place can one possibly think of to promote the concept of "Free Monies" and a spiffy DIA tax advertisement than Washtenaw County's very own Moscow on the Huron.

Patterson Makes Obamacare Palatable, Screws Taxpayers

What an Executive wagon-circling doozy floated this morning in The News.

Across the nation, the fees and taxes imposed next year through the Affordable Care Act will generate about $20 billion, based on Joint Committee on Taxation estimates, and could affect nearly 60 percent of Americans who receive insurance through their workplace.

It's uncertain how many employees could pay the higher fees and taxes because employers are deciding whether to absorb the cost or pass along all or part of it. For example, Oakland County government decided to pick up the tab - more than $600,000 - for its workers. Macomb and Wayne county officials could not be reached about their plans.

    REST

As the old saying goes - No pain, No ga, well, in Brooksie's bureaucratic fiefdom... no pain!  Pay up, taxpayers suckers.

With Republicans like in Oakland County, Randy Richardville, Jase Bolger, and Snyder/Calley, who needs Lon Johnson and Julianna Smoot?

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Wayne Schmidt Spells Expediency With an "R"

Or, should the title be "The Northern Follies! Part Deux"?  Matters little as it all spells "R is for Reverse when riding with Democrats".

The Michigan lawmaker sponsoring a bill authorizing red light cameras has made a U-turn on the issue.

Rep. Wayne Schmidt, R-Traverse City, who chairs the House Transportation Committee, last year co-sponsored a bill that would have banned red light cameras. This year, he sponsored a bill that would have brought red light cameras to traffic intersections across the state.

However, Rep. Schmidt said he has chosen not to move the red light authorization bill forward because of concerns he says he now has about traffic cameras and privacy issues.

Concerns about privacy?  Sure it is.  At testimony, Rep. Peter Pettalia spelled that all out for Wayne.

Manufacturers of red light cameras have a reputation for heavy lobbying in state capitols. It is not clear if sponsors of the bill have received any campaign support from red light camera manufacturers. Contributions do not have to be reported until the end of the year in an off-election year, according to the Michigan Secretary of State's office.

Traverse City and Traverse County have been under financial pressure from unfunded pension liabilities, and revenue from red light cameras could provide some relief. However, Traverse City Manager Jered Ottenwess said he is not aware of any interest in installing the cameras.

All but one of the eight co-sponsors on the red light camera bill are Democrats from the Detroit area.

I suppose it's not a good day to be a Show Pony in the 104th with further political aspirations.

Don't Raise MI Taxes Tour Coming to Your Neighborhood

What a shame it is that the Majority Party in Lansing, need guidance with their allowance like little children require, but thank God for the Good People at Americans For Prosperity looking out for us taxpayers in Michigan, with 13 tour stops around the state.

    First Tour stop:

Don't Raise MI Taxes Tour Stop (St. Clair Shores)
    Americans for Prosperity - Michigan
Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
    Saint Clair Shores, MI

Thank you for your ongoing efforts, Mr. Hagerstrom!  As noted from an mLive screed, it should be highlighted who the Legislator held responsible for the latest MIaGOP Tax Hike scheme on Michigan residents.

A new plan taking shape in the state House, spearheaded by Republican [questionable] Rep. Wayne Schmidt of Traverse City, is expected to include increased gasoline taxes and registration fees. The proposal also would exempt fuel purchases from the state's six percent sales tax, which is collected at the pump but is not used to fix roads.

Congratulations, District 104 voters.  Feeling dumb about sending Wayne "Show Pony" back for another term in Lansing, yet?  I doubt it.  But wait, there's more!

House Speaker Jase Bolger, R-Marshall, signaled support for the plan on Thursday, telling reporters that the legislature must "be committed to solving the full problem," including making sure that all taxes paid at the pump go toward roads.

What were your words about raising taxes, Speaker Bolger?

"Taxpayers should be the last place we look".  Never did look here, did you?  You can run, but you can't hide, Mr. Speaker.  Methinks, I hit the bullseye with the accuracy of both assessments.

Campus Lizards Promoting Fuel Tax Hikes

    Our tax dollars at work...

"Fair share" without repealing Prevailing Wage on the table, Mr. Zang?  If that isn't a load of Granholm-sized mental masturbating psychobabble, I don't know what is.  Nice try, Gov. Snydholm, but your taxpayer funded mob-rule bus tour for tax hikes would even make Obama blush with your blundering heavy-handed propaganda.

Snyder can't get his Exchange, and expansion of Medicaid abyss sitting Sen. Kahn's lap when Snyder has his Sales Tax, and Fuel Tax Hike scheme sitting in Sen. Kahn's lap too, so Slick Snyder scrapped Repeal of Prevailing Wage.  The Governerd played right into the Democrats hands unwittingly, or not.  More importantly, the Governerd is filling the goonion coffers for the Michigan Democratic Party voting base.  Talk about being "divisive," Governerd?

Folks on the Right in this state should never wonder how we ended up with a loser like Jim Blanchard, winning Office.

Snyder was SO UPSET at Bob King and Prop 2

Somebody really needs to check the Nerd for Granholm's moles.

    Detroit News

The Republican governor told reporters trying to repeal prevailing wages is a "very divisive" issue. He says he's instead focusing on getting support for his new state budget and ensuring changes affecting the state's largest health insurer get to his desk.

House Republicans say state agencies, universities and school districts could save money if they didn't have to pay prevailing wages.

    MORE

So, instead of finding cost savings for the taxpayer, the Governerd says, "Hey! It's just so much easier to keep raiding the little peoples wallets. Besides, have you seen the Democrat, and unions that I'm in cahoots with?".  Anybody thinks for one moment that the Nerd wanted anything to do with Freedom To Work Law in this state .. they have a room temperature IQ.

Speaker Bolger, this rests squarely on your shoulders now.

Boy, its a good thing the house Republicans have redundant measures in place.

Given The governor's HARD SELL of a tax increase, it was a relief to have the house majority leader point out that he thinks "the taxpayers are the last place to look" for money needed to fix our roads.  But the video as seen in one of our postings just up and disappeared!

    Oh My.

    Did I mention redundancy?

Indeed.  The "LAST PLACE TO LOOK" is the taxpayer!  Thank you Jase!

Oh..  And I saved a copy back.  Just in case.
