  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Betsy DeVos Sets The Wrong Table

Truly a loss to the GOP if Betsy DeVos remains committed to her recent effort of removing Dave Agema from the position of Republican National Committeeman.

There was a reason he won the position in the first place; as someone who would hold TRUE to conservative Republican principles, and strengthen them in the national platform.  While the establishment Republicans are decrying Democrats as "bad," Committeeman Agema was rebuilding the foundation so Republicans could say why.  Real fiscal restraint, real solutions aimed at preserving families and traditions that have made this country great.

And the feeble sensibilities of an offended malcontent within the party continuously stirs up sympathy for the other side's (progressive Dems for those of you who remain unsure) point of view?

"Hey look at me! I am a Republican and I don't like your stand on what I like to do, so you better tolerate my perverse lifestyle or I will forever more divide the party until I get what I want!  You can call it a big tent if you want."
And like the 'Tasmanian Devil' of the cartoon world, shredding the bonds of good conservatives, and instilling doubt upon the conscience of a party that once at least as a promise, stood for decency and honor.

When moral restraint is removed in one way, it certainly follows that the caps are off in others too.

A sin is a sin is a sin, right?

So lets talk more below the fold.

9 Out Of 10 And No Sunshine

Aside from selling out the country on 25x25, and a particular take on the national popular vote that would leave most states ENTIRELY powerless in the presidential election process, Saul can be pretty accurate on political issues.

He notes that our governor is NO conservative, and his words make the argument that Snyder is a 'republican of convenience'. He argues a couple of other points however that I must disagree/partially disagree with.  Like many who aren't even as 'conservative' as he, he argues that the "RINOs" out there are the tea types who would bolt from the party if they don't get their way. I have seen it, and I don't like it either. The trouble is, that they are the ones who still hold 'republican values'.  And backing it up with the statement of "we agree 9 out of ten times .."?

Watch this OTR overtime (or not) with Saul then go below the fold

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

In a 'garden party' hosted by the Leelanau Republican women, Michigan state senator Darwin Booher (R-35) clarified that he would NOT be voting for the Medicaid expansion bill being advanced by Governor Rick Snyder.

The garden party, held on Sunday at a local small business, was attended by Republican US Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land, State Senator Darwin Booher, State Representatives Ray Franz (R-101), Bruce Rendon (R-103), and other local politicians and interested citizens.  Booher announced he "would not be voting for medicaid expansion" during a part of the program where elected officials and prospective candidates spoke.

Booher has also spoken out against the "outrageous fine" levied on Mark Baker of Baker's acres for the heinous crime of trying to farm in Michigan.

Call his office and thank him for his principled stand on these important issues.

How Boehner single-handedly lost the GOP Majority in the House for 2014

{facepalm} Every House Republican't that voted for a second term of Weeper Boehner should be tarred, feathered, and ran out of town on a rail.  That should be the "teachable moment" for Representative Steve King.  It's the pandering Politically Correct garbage in the GOP "Big Tent" that will stab one in the back just as fast, if not faster, than the Democratic Socialist Party plantation race warlord poverty pimps.

Besides Rick Snyder, same 'ol same old... Amnesty for gatecrashers.

The immigration overhaul passed by the U.S. Senate could put a big squeeze on the budgets of state and local governments.

The proposal does not help states pay for costs incurred by required policy changes, including ramped up English classes and greater access to public hospitals and health clinics.

"Potentially, we are going to create a financial catastrophe for states and localities," said Sheri Steisel, senior federal affairs counsel and a human services expert at the National Conference of State Legislatures. "The states will end up with the cost and consequences of the federal decision-making, with very little resources to rely on to make up the difference."

    MORE

Not that the self-invented Nerd persona since being sworn to his Oath has done a damn thing about that "big squeeze" anyway.  Why Hell, stealth Democrat Rick Michigan has even fought his own Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson, over providing gatecrashers a driver license, squashing voter verification, and placing the Lawless to the front of the line ahead of American citizens.

Michiganders must really enjoy being little more than Debt Slaves.  Wolverines - do not.  Frankly, I don't see a snowball's chance in Hell that Snyder will be a second term anything in this state, but go ahead "liberty-minded network" with squandering your time and resources on Calley.

    The Weeper blathers on...

Good God, if they break the Law, we break the Law, too?  Just beyond stupid, anymore.  Stale, really.  The only thing that changes in the District of Corruption, is the day.  The House has held, what, 30? 40? (I quit counting) Repeal Obummercare votes, and yet, the Historic Scam 1/2 of the 1/3 of government blunders on.

Yes John, Harry Reid will be all over your two bills from the House, like a hobo on a ham sandwich - passing them.  GMAFB, already.

    Big Government

Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, tweeted Wednesday evening that the Senate's immigration bill is unconstitutional because it raises revenues and originated in the Senate instead of the House.

"Chairman Camp: Senate immigration bill a revenue bill; unconstitutional and cannot be taken up by the House," the official House and Ways Means Committee Twitter account sent out Wednesday evening.

As of this writing, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has not sent the immigration bill that passed the Senate 68-32 to the House of Representatives. Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) announced that news in a late Wednesday statement, after circulating a "dear colleague" letter arguing the Senate immigration bill was unconstitutional because it raised revenue and did not originate in the House.

Language in the U.S. Constitution requires any bill that raises revenue, also known as a tax, must originate in the House of Representatives, not the Senate. America's founders included that language because they believed the House was more accountable to the people of the country than the Senate, which was elected at that time by state legislators rather than through a direct vote. That clause of the Constitution is called the "origination clause" and reads as such: "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives."

When such a revenue-raising bill comes out of the Senate, the Speaker of the House, currently Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), can use a procedure called a "blue slip resolution" to automatically kill it on the grounds that it is unconstitutional. Stockman has been promising to attempt to kill the Senate's bill that way and, as such, Reid has refused to send it to the House, thereby protecting the bill from being "blue slipped." The term "blue slip," Stockman's office noted in a release, comes from the blue color of the paper on which a resolution is printed that returns a Senate bill back to the Senate in these situations.  MORE

Looks like Dave Camp won't be voting for another term of Rick Snyder, or will Camp, just because the Nerd has "R" after his last name?
