But have you seen the organized effort out by Club For Growth?
The question is asked, "Why Primary My Congressman?" "Moderate" Republicans often join with liberal Democrats to grow government and increase taxes.OK. Good answer. Take just ONE of the identified Congressional critters on their site; Rep Rene Ellmers, who holds a 66% conservative record, yet she represents a district which voted 57% for Romney in 2012. Pretty much 2 years wasted so far there, Hmm? Where do our guys stand? (1 comment) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Our tax dollars at work...
"Fair share" without repealing Prevailing Wage on the table, Mr. Zang? If that isn't a load of Granholm-sized mental masturbating psychobabble, I don't know what is. Nice try, Gov. Snydholm, but your taxpayer funded mob-rule bus tour for tax hikes would even make Obama blush with your blundering heavy-handed propaganda. Snyder can't get his Exchange, and expansion of Medicaid abyss sitting Sen. Kahn's lap when Snyder has his Sales Tax, and Fuel Tax Hike scheme sitting in Sen. Kahn's lap too, so Slick Snyder scrapped Repeal of Prevailing Wage. The Governerd played right into the Democrats hands unwittingly, or not. More importantly, the Governerd is filling the goonion coffers for the Michigan Democratic Party voting base. Talk about being "divisive," Governerd? Folks on the Right in this state should never wonder how we ended up with a loser like Jim Blanchard, winning Office. (2 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Money grubbing, wallet pilfering Lansing, strikes again with the internet sales tax.
HB 4202 I mention before about the Governerd's scheme that Two Penny Jenny tried with raising taxes. Well, a mere 6 days after writing about it, there you have it. Lansing Nerdpublicans have resurrected the 2012 dead. Pettalia, you're such a disgrace. (2 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Somebody really needs to check the Nerd for Granholm's moles.
Detroit News
The Republican governor told reporters trying to repeal prevailing wages is a "very divisive" issue. He says he's instead focusing on getting support for his new state budget and ensuring changes affecting the state's largest health insurer get to his desk. So, instead of finding cost savings for the taxpayer, the Governerd says, "Hey! It's just so much easier to keep raiding the little peoples wallets. Besides, have you seen the Democrat, and unions that I'm in cahoots with?". Anybody thinks for one moment that the Nerd wanted anything to do with Freedom To Work Law in this state .. they have a room temperature IQ. (3 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
I would have thought it hard to consider a primary challenge to Rick Snyder a real possibility.
Given the courage to stand up for what is only right, and sign Freedom-To-Work legislation, it seemed like Rick Snyder sealed the deal for a 2014 re-election bid. Anyone who would have challenged him would have to have a good explanation as to WHY they might oppose such a righteous outcome. As some have said, its easier to train a bad Chihuahua to be good, than euthanize it and get a good Sheepdog. (I know that no-one has put it that way, but it just seemed appropriate.) Puppy training our governor seemed to have worked, and by golly that big bite for the rights of Michiganders was worthy of a few accidents on the rug. But alas, he is chewing up the furniture and foaming at the mouth now: Governor Rick Snyder became only the 6th governor in the US to back Medicaid expansion in accordance with The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Details here. The conservative Heritage Foundation has estimated that this action will cost Michigan taxpayers an additional $835 million. That and the budget ballooning to $51 Billion??!: "The total executive budget recommendation for fiscal year 2014, including all state and federal revenue sources, is $50.9 billion.Leaves one question. Do ya folks think its possible old Yeller's got the rabies?
If so, you KNOW what that means. (9 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
For many, this week will be an especially long one.
Count me as one of those watching the clock tick away till Tuesday. As many might know already, the first financials are out. In the 104th district race, if one was to look at the money spent, and figured all that mattered was how much each candidate used, then one might think that the establishment wins yet another time. No amount of financial paint however, can pretty up the big government ways of the 104th district incumbent, and frankly folks are beginning to wise up. Looking at the financials, a $76k expenditure is impressive, a $95K fund raise even more so. But the base of support is maybe not so good for a four year incumbent. Most of the donations are lobbying PACS, law firms, and chamber entities including the often screwed up Detroit chamber. In fact looking at the collection, I may have driven part of the fundraising effort for him. They sure want him back. Bad. But its up to the people who vote. After personally reaching (mostly lit drop) about 950 doors in the last 4 days alone, any feedback I have gotten indicates a mood for changing up. Printer's tired, but I'm not.
Yet. And I have help. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
For those of you who haven't already figured it out, I have thrown my hat in the ring for the Michigan state house 104th district.
And yes I did the 'project' thing. And then pretend its somehow my fault. Sad. But it's on them. You guys can do as you please. I have been a team player. But I know which team I am on. I have been involved in the local, state, and national Republican scene, and helped to ensure that in 2010 we took the majorities in the places that mattered. Our team was composed of a great number of grassroots concerned citizens. I was a member and only one of those great many patriots that returned Michigan to a level of sanity that was impossible under the prior administration. Each of us worked in the manner we each saw fit, and some of us quite effective. But none of it was done to see additional picking of winners, or to see the continued stealing from Michigan HOME HEALTH CARE AIDES, or continuing oppression on business owners or small farmers, or the negligence in the failure to pass Right To Work in Michigan. And at least one more independent voice of reason is needed. And I need neither permission, nor a place in line to provide a very different vision of how the job should be done, or whom should represent our district. We can work together after I win the seat, but it will be a whole lot easier if leadership doesn't shoot itself in the foot by throwing accusations (you know who you are) to friends whom I have purposefully left out of the discussions prior to making the decision to run. An apology is in order to those whom have been accused of recruiting me by those who fail to understand what I represent. And tomorrow by 4pm, perhaps they will have a few others to worry about? Bottom line is we need to understand when we've taken the wheel, and are actually driving this thing.
I don't doubt the ability of the tea movement to shoulder once again, a myriad collection of RINOs, power hungry moderates, and mislabeled Republicans this election. I expect them to once again carry across the finish line, the standard bearers of establishment elitism and compromise. But there is something else that we will see. They will have replaced a few of those along the way. And it starts with the victory of Richard Mourdock over Richard Lugar in the Indiana Republican US Senate primary. Tea party grass roots ultimately helped by favorites such as Palin, and Club for growth, to overcome the entrenched RNC financed defense of "Obama's favorite Republican" made the Bob Bennett loss of a couple years ago more real. It took it from fluke status to a legitimate answer for politicians who pander too far over to the left for their own good. Fair play, and a good game. Play to win, and when we don't, we plod forward to the next election.
But what really makes this especially interesting, is that the same folks who shepherded in Mourdock, are now backing Gary Glenn. The search to replace Stabenow has brought out a number of candidates, all of whom would be satisfactory when making the stark comparison to the puppet of the leftists, but not all will make it into the final cut.
