Don't be bogarting. Pass the blunt around crapulous sista.
Kelly Bernero, the oldest of Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero's two daughters, faces misdemeanor charges including impaired driving and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop last week, court records show. Maybe if her daddy buys her a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 she could run against Stabenow in the future... (6 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Its time to take back our state, and regain control of our own efforts and skills. Folks here have seen some of my commentary on the issue, and understand where I am on the issue. Quite a bit of effort has been made in the background on this issue so that it has the fighting chance it deserves. The planning and execution of this has included some of the organizers taking hardship on themselves to push for this all too appropriate measure for Michigan. They took leaves of absence from paying jobs. This is important enough for a number of folks who might otherwise have minor disagreement, to come together in this much needed effort. We will need your help on this as well. So note his press release comes from only a single group involved in our effort to unshackle Michigan workers to their unions, and bring accountability back to workers' representation. From the Campaign for Liberty Tony Demott begins. (Note that Terry Bowman, a UAW worker is a point man in this) Also note that there will be an effort to "out" Republicans who do not take advantage of this one opportunity to complete the process of healing the state of Michigan. The pressure will be on, and if your Michigan Representative or Senator does not support what OUGHT TO BE seen as a natural right, perhaps its time they go back to the private sector and work for ... SIEU. We are not kidding. Begin Message:
Dear Michigan Patriots, Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working to put Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville on record on Right to Work. Will he allow a vote? We are not alone in this fight. In fact, we've worked closely with Terry Bowman, President and founder of Union Conservatives. I'm honored to introduce Terry and his group to you. Its time I weigh in.
Not that my opinion is any more valid than those of you who have posted on this already. In fact I have carefully considered the arguments, and added in the known variables along with best guesses and personal experience. I rely on your observations as much as my own, however this is one of those times I must respectfully disagree with some of you on the negative impact of the state's new tax policy. Last night I was lucky enough to attend the Leelanau County Republican party Lincoln dinner with my wife and a great number of friends. Some of those friends are either retired and/or retiring soon, and have a reason to be concerned about higher taxes, the loss of exemptions, and changing tax policy that may directly affect them. There was no shortage of Republicans present, and many of those were folks one would find in 912 groups, Tea Parties, and other constitution interested organizations. I believe the Leelanau county chair suggested the numbers involved in the county party were even more than last year. And last year we had great success in moving the bar back toward conservative government structure with landslide elections both statewide and nationally. The reason I mention this, is to establish that this group, even while containing a number of "old guard" party types, it was hardly a pushover crowd. While being a social affair, there is/was still an undeniable no-going-back attitude, and frankly there were enough who had a concern as do many in this forum, that this was not the way to start off. For the most part, I too could be counted as one who was also troubled about extending tax levels, and elimination of particular exemptions. My understanding of the MBT going away and the Corporate tax replacement was not yet complete. ~ More below ~ (16 comments, 1325 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
For many of us:
Frustration is seeing an unprecedented opportunity to fix the labor hold on Michigan and watching that opportunity potentially slip away because legislators seem to have forgotten already, the force that hired them. Frustration is knowing the CO2 scam has not yet been fully purged, and that there are still government implementations being put in place to solve the non-existent problem. Including in Michigan and even locally. Frustration is seeing some of the good things like elimination of the MBT being accomplished not by straight out cutting, but by a shift to other victims. Frustration is not having enough time to offer all the solutions we have properly, because those solutions are nearly immediately eclipsed by the next round of idiotic government actions designed to create more issues that complicate the previous ones. Frustration is having a skill and not being able to apply it, because of an unconstitutional application of federal law, and the failure of the states to assert their authority, and protect the rights that guarantee the ability to use that skill. I could add a hundred more to the list Frustration is not an entirely crippling problem I have however. Go below. (1046 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section Multimedia
Up to now, this was not made public. It is a little more candid, and given his appearance in the debate yesterday, I thought it was time to cut loose.
The 'Hermanator' in three parts. (the second two below the line.) For those of you who happened to catch his performance last night you now have an opportunity to see what he had to say during a visit to Lansing in April.

Midweek, a lot more going on in Lansing than you might think based on the few posts locally. Of course D Conservative has put a bit of work into his Redistricting analysis cross posted to us from The Western Right But who else is talking Michigan politics?
Start with Jack McHugh of the Mackinac Center, who thinks the DRIC discussion isn't one to embrace with Four Reasons Why the Tea Party Should Ignore Detroit Bridge Controversy At the Bottoms Up Blog, there is a Tea Party Report from Oceana County's Sunday gathering. Also a report and pictures from Saturday's affair in Lansing K-12 School funding suffering at the hands of Snyder? To give to 'higher education"? A Conservative Teacher thinks so. Over at The Rougblog, the motor city described as a city governed by the delusional lives in a state of delusion Traverse City Schools move a meeting to a never used time to avoid public input and objection. Bill at TCFamily.org thinks so as the LBGT agenda moves forward in Northern Michigan. And if you didn't see the post over at MTTM, a Seriously Condescending Upton Man gets all smart alecky with a constituent. If you know of any blogs not listed here that have to do with Michigan politics, then add them in the comments. (3 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
As something that should continue to be on the agenda while we have the chance, I am going to stay on the Michigan Right-To-Work issue. The Legislature and executive office of this state will likely never be in a better position to move this corrective measure forward.
There is no question that Right-To-Work is a part of our natural rights. Nothing says "these are MY hands" like a product produced with one's own labor and effort. The ability to produce without the parasitical effect of false promises from labor organizations, promotes greater freedom, and choice. Freedom that is natural and ought not be at issue. Right now, I have a small request. Call (Or Email, Write) your Michigan State Representative, AND your Michigan State Senator. Ask them if they support Right-To Work, Are Neutral, Oppose it, or 'other'. Calling may be the quickest way, and the assistants, and legislative aides often have their positions available. Be sure to offer your support for the record too! Of course be courteous if they disagree, but do not be afraid to strongly assert your position of support for FULL RTW legislation (no Zones)for Michigan. Let them know they could be heroes rather than zeroes. THEN email me the results to: This particular email account I want to get an idea of who in Lansing is willing to put the state's welfare over a perceived political hot button issue. A small thing like making this phone call could bring Michigan back, and there truly has been no better time than now to act. Please. (3 comments) Comments >>
