Was away from everything news related for the past few days, and not to be surprised with my return to an interesting blurb in mLive the other day (Nope. Not linking to them) that it is still SSDD in the sociopathic world of politics.
"The emergency manager has met with the White House and members of the state's congressional delegation, and these meetings focused on how the federal government can assist in Detroit's restructuring," said Orr's spokesperson Bill Nowling in an email message. "At each of those meetings it was made clear that a federal bailout is not a possibility." Let that sink in.
Nobody is interested in bailing out LBJ's "model city" Detroit. N-O-B-O-D-Y. Sure, the Congressional Black Caucus has gone whining to race-baiter-in-chief, president Odowngrade², with JoAnn's "bring home some bacon" meme, but that narrative is as common as the sun rising in the East. Besides, preezy Soetoro's agenda is already booked with making this entire nation look like Detoilet, so, how in the Hell can he bail out Detoilet? Barry can't. All of D.C. knows that bailing out Detoilet is opening Pandora's box. Think Killadelphia isn't just around the corner on going teats up? Think again. It is poison for the However, click on the Full Story button. I want you all to meet a very real-life Charlie Gordon character from Daniel Keyes' award winning short story. Things are shaping up nicely. I imagine that fiscal wreck that is Detroit's finances will right themselves in no time. {continued after the fold} (2 comments, 63 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Or something like that.
Detroit-- Mayor Dave Bing, working on plans to reshape Detroit neighborhoods, was getting a walking tour of New Orleans to observe how that city is recovering more than five years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Bing and other members of his administration were meeting today with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Bing spokeswoman Karen Dumas told The Associated Press. They were in New Orleans to see relocation efforts, blight reduction and land-use strategies.

It sure didn't take long for the Dingellosaurus to do the Walk Back.
"I have a tremendous amount of confidence in Mayor Bing, and my comments about Detroit yesterday were a reflection on past Administrations that helped dig the hole the city finds itself in, not on the current Administration that is trying desperately to get the city out of the hole. I am and always have worked for the betterment of the City and its people, and I intend to continue that course..." Okay, Bing deserved the feigned apology. But. That wasn't what Johnny was "sniping". Dingell was blatantly "targeting" Governors. Unmistakably that'd have to point to fellow Democrat Governor Jennifer Granholm. Not to mention Dingells' reference to all "Stone-Agers" err, Conservative Republicans. Oh, Johnny... is there anything that he won't say? There once was a show on HBO called Tales from the Crypt that instantly came to mind when reading today's JOA News. Yes, Dearborn's very own Congressman Dingell or, the Crypt Keeper if you will, was busy playing a soft race-baiting card for the City of Detroits' $8,000,000,000.00 debt and "Targeting" Michigan's Republican legislature.
Washington-- Rep. John Dingell on Tuesday said the city of Detroit is in dire straits and needs state intervention to recover economically. Exactly where has the "Dean of the House" been for the past 8 years? I don't recall Johnny talking this way during his fellow Democrat Governor Granholm reign that was preoccupied with running the entire state into the ground. Did the City of Detroit just magically become a cesspool of corruption, poverty and indebtedness on January 1, 2011 when Governor Snyder assumed Office? Nope. I suspect there's more to this new interest in Detroit than Johnny is leading onto... (5 comments, 1363 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section Multimedia
Is Snyder trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? After reading in today's detnews.com that Snyder is out on the campaign trail in Detroit with Bill "Passionate Moderate" Milliken, it would appear that he is.
"Our relationship began when I was lieutenant governor presiding over the Senate and Mayor Young was a state senator," Milliken said at a campaign event in Corktown. "At that time, we didn't get along too well." But like the state and the city, the two realized over time "both of us needed each other," Milliken said. "We developed a warm personal relationship." Again, let's examine what the State of Michigan and the City of Detroit have become through moderate right and progressive left leadership.
It all paints a dismal landscape for Michigan's future for me. (4 comments, 421 words in story) Full Story |
