Congressman Kerry Bentivolio (R-11) leads Farmington Hills attorney and foreclosure king David Trott 59.55% to 40.45%, according to polling released today.
The poll was a collaborative effort between Murray Communications, a Michigan-based Republican political consulting firm; Portable Insights, a Rhode Island-based opinion research company; and Combat Data Inc., a Michigan-based political data and voter outreach services company. Bentivolio, a Republican from Milford, was elected to Congress last year after then-Rep. Thaddeus McCotter was disqualified from the primary ballot after failing to turn in the required minimum number of valid petition signatures. Trott announced his primary challenge last week.

While I work on some background information, I thought I would touch base with those of you who hide the computer for the weekends. I really have a bit of a major writing project coming up that will put our new found conservative majority's will to a test. To do so, I still need to hear from a bunch of you.
Catch your Michigan State Rep or Michigan State Senator during their local office hours, and ask them whether they are For neutral or against RTW.
As I mentioned in another post,I want to know who we will be beating over the head with TRUE conservative love going forward.
Call (Or Email, Write) your Michigan State Representative, AND your Michigan State Senator. Ask them if they support Right-To Work, Are Neutral, Oppose it, or 'other'. Calling may be the quickest way, and the assistants, and legislative aides often have their positions available. Be sure to offer your support for the record too! Of course be courteous if they disagree, but do not be afraid to strongly assert your position of support for FULL RTW legislation (no Zones)for Michigan. Let them know they could be heroes rather than zeroes.
THEN email me the results to: This particular email account I want to get an idea of who in Lansing is willing to put the state's welfare over a perceived political hot button issue. The emails I have received so far, show the left as unrepentant and out of touch as always, but Republicans overall are a mix of support and uncertainty. Unfortunately, it seems there are some Reps who are "not certain its the right time." "When would be the right time?" I would have to ask. Under what circumstance would the stars be so aligned, that the squishy souls of our REPUBLICANs in power are willing to step out from their protective cages? And I am not talking about that cool little hole in the wall community in the Upper Peninsula.
Four weeks out from the general election, and we may have a problem with a double digit lead that Rick Snyder has, over Virg Bernero. Snyder's lead through Rasmussen as of a couple weeks ago was 13 points, and it is unlikely (barring a name and gender change along with a discovery he is a Canadian plant) that Rick Snyder will drop below the 50 point mark. Private polling commissioned by a political source shows the lead may have grown even more. And it presents more of a problem for Republicans than Democrats. Things are starting to happen in the primary cycle. There are some of you who have felt that the advertising done by the Cox campaign regarding the TARP was too tough, or perhaps distasteful. The results are in, and the ads, as well as a the plan advertised by Cox for Michigan's future seem to have moved public opinion in his favor.
The Mike Cox 2010 campaign today released the results of a new poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies showing Mike Cox leading the race for governor. According to Public Opinion Strategies pollster Neil Newhouse:
"After only two weeks of out-state advertising, Cox has essentially erased Pete Hoekstra's once commanding 13-point lead and reshaped this race," The poll of 400 likely GOP primary voters finds Mike Cox in first place with 21 percent of the vote, Pete Hoekstra tied in first at 21 percent, Rick Snyder at 18 percent, Mike Bouchard at 10 percent and Tom George at 2 percent. The poll was conducted May 25-27 with a margin of error of +/-4.9%. (650 words in story) Full Story |
