And that festering sore, which is the MiGOP credentials committee decision to change the rules for a change the in the outcome of the Michigan primary, is still an issue.
Imagine that. Doctor, I do believe it is gangrene! And in our own civil war brought about by the corruption within the Michigan Republican party we will have to hold it down to cut off the bad parts. Sorry that it is so painful, but someone misplaced all the anesthesia. I believe ts somewhere, along with the conscience of party leadership. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
You know, for the first time I agree with that Trotskyite, Shopshire, who spends his taxpayer paid office time blogging.
In a post regarding the credentials committee decision to change the rules to favor the meme that Romney carried the day February 28, RM's post invited lefty love. Kevin Shopshire, alias Communications guru, who often lashes out (thats really ALL he does) at republicans and conservatives frequently, made like a broken clock, and may have found a point where he is right for the second time in his life. Shopshire made a valid point unfortunately: Communications guru said... The point he makes is that the Republican leadership, framed the election in such a way as to ensure Mitts selection here, and when THAT wasn't as clear a win as they would like, it was obvious the rules were changed to make it more so. And that Michigan Taxpayers, including Democrats (at least those who really work for a living) are footing the bill for this Kabuki theater presentation. The "basic dishonesty of the party" meme is getting harder to defend so long as we have continued dominance by an establishment that operates not in a conservative fashion, but in one that continues to elevate those who play for power, not the good of the people.

~ Promoted as a non Michigan item ~ (or isn't it?)
Cross-posted in The Wizard of Laws One of the problems with public discourse these days is that many people can't bring themselves to state their cases without engaging in wild histrionics. How many times have you read something described as the most shocking, the most outrageous, the most ridiculous, etc.? Not everything can be the most outrageous -- only one thing can be. And yet, that doesn't stop people from launching into ludicrous hyperbole or, just as bad, cobbling together lists that supposedly divine some pattern of thought or action. This is the case currently with a list floating around the internet, first finding publication on a noted left-wing site, titled "Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women." The site reports, "The Republicans are on a rampage attacking women's health and rights this year." Really? A rampage? Do all of the Republican legislators who happen to be women know about this?

Lets talk about wolves pretending to be sheep..
If Santa Claus dressed himself as Batman would he be Batman? He may fool some, but his bulbous reality would reveal at the very least he wouldn't very likely LOOK the part. And unless some of that magic Santa dust can perform some miraculous effect, a fat man doing the dark knight's work might end in disaster. Besides, apart from a "girth" issue, there would also be the small problem of his entourage, be they smelly little elves, reindeer, or a bunch of little kids (who are smarter than the average bad guy) following him around and KNOW that its really Santa Claus, that would blow the fat man's cover. Well.. the entourage is REALLY the secret in the sauce for the Truth Squad, a new "service" that suggests it is there to help voters determine who is taking creative license in their political advertising. Let talk about it.. below the fold. (1 comment, 1429 words in story) Full Story By Nick, Section News
Sort of like putting a whoopee cushion on an electric chair.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) programs don't work and the Granholm-Cherry administration knew it. That hasn't stopped them from showing up at press conference after press conference dating back to their reelection bid in 2005, though, and claiming credit for the creation of new jobs they KNEW, empirically, would never be created. The Ivory Tower reported over the weekend that only 67,000 jobs have been created or retained by the state's big economic development programs in the last fourteen years. To say that's a drop in the bucket compared to what Granholm and Cherry have promised unemployed voters at their many photo-ops would belittle drops in buckets. Last month on the Bloggers' Edition of Off the Record with Tim Skubick the Regressisphere's greatest champion, Liberal Lucy, parroted the administration's line (that's what she does best) and claimed that their job creation efforts (those are, specifically, the MEDC and MEGA, kids) had actually created or retained 700,000 jobs. 700,000 in promises over six years. That's an average of 116,667 jobs promised every year. 67,000 in results over fourteen comes out to an average of 4,786 per year. In other words, the administration typically promises more than 24 TIMES what they know, historically, they're going to be able to deliver. Fourteen years establishes what the experts refer to as a "track record." Despite platitudes and promises of future successes, the administration had reports and facts and figures that indicated most companies that were granted breaks and preferential treatment by the MEDC and via MEGA wound up declining to take advantage of the tax breaks because Michigan's job creation environment was still too turbulent for expansion, or even survival. Politicians lie to voters. Integrity is far too rare in "public servants." But knowingly and willfully lying to unemployed workers about job creation prospects? That's cruel, that's callous and it just plain isn't funny. (4 comments) Comments >> By Nick, Section News
Call this the morning of surprises! And they're big ones, and important ones too... I'm not even going to mention the fact that the Michigan Wolverines look to have moved off the bubble and on their way to their first NCAA Tournament in over a decade. (OK, so maybe I'm going to mention that once but that's it, promise.)
Fair warning, before you read the rest of this post you're going to want to sit down. If you're driving and doing the mobile thing its safer for the rest of us if you pull over to the side of the road. Shock and highway speeds generally don't mix well. Safe and secure? Great. Check this out. It looks like most elected Democrats in Lansing, while begging the State Officers Compensation Commission to cut their pay starting in 2011 have and continue to refuse to return any of their pay voluntarily here and now. SURPRISE! Read on... (3 comments, 823 words in story) Full Story
