What someone might call "the right thing to do," might be anything but that. Especially if it requires that a crime be perpetrated in order to follow through.  Most acts of compassion by an individual cannot be questioned.  It is self sacrifice; or giving, that heals, nurtures, grows, etc.  It becomes a very different act when perpetrated through coercion upon some for the benefit of others.

The affordable care act is one of those "right things to do" according to its supporters.  However, it is also one of those things which has no authority as an enumerated power defined in the constitution.  The federal government has no authority to act on state's issues such as health care, welfare, and schooling.  Only the broadest interpretation of commerce issues allow it to assume other responsibilities such as labor and transportation, but those come from the weak links established through a lazy practice known as case law, and precedent.

The federal government has no reason to be involved in, or managing the critical aspects of our lives.  The mantra of "Its the law of the land"  be damned.  We still have a constitution, as damaged as it might be through neglect and cowardice.  It provides absolute protections from authority to the people, and to the states which those people reside.

Unless those states and people surrender to that authority.

Even a 'De-motivational' line has appeared inspiring laughter from all who recognize their own weaknesses, and failings.  Even the low resolution versions of those became 'viral' for a time, and caused many to try and duplicate based on their own version of irony and truth telling. Alas, we are not immune to the allure of entertainment with the truth, and nothing but the truth.

In a reply to a Michigan Liberal's Eric Baerren post on the Michigan Democrat Chair race, McGuinness makes it clear that the scheme was not entirely cooked up with the two who paid the price. McG seemingly hyper-agonized because Dems are criticizing the current speaker for his part in an attempt to turn Roy Schmidt's seat permanently red. (I realize how that reads after typing it..  it stays however) McG says he it is "bizarre", and that he was ashamed of his "starring role". A role by the way which had to cost Michael Shirley twinkle-toes McGuinness a princess' ransom to defend.

The current chair of the Michigan Democratic Party cultivated the fake Tea Party political party to draw votes from Republicans in 2010. It is bizarre to me that few Democrats seemed to care much (let alone challenge him on whether he was involved or not).  He not only had the audacity to stand for re-election the next year, but had the strange fortune of being re-elected. Apparently a repeat may occur yet again. Wild.

I am ashamed of my starring role in the scheme. When the state party emissary started calling this county party leader at the last minute pleading to help find candidates for their tea party farce, I should have stopped to actually consider the moral implications of it all, told them to go jump in the lake and shouted from the mountaintops about it.

That I did not will remain a personal disappointment and a legal black eye for the duration of my life. I thought I was being a loyal party soldier, doing just what the Republicans would do. I deserve all the scorn I got. I'm not interested in relitigating the past, but I got six felonies and he got another term as chair.

I don't know and I don't anticipate he did anything illegal, but it was and is unethical. Every time I read a quote from the state party chair about how Speaker Bolger and Rep. Schmidt were dastardly fellows I wanted to puke.

The buck clearly does not stop with him -- or anyone else, from the looks of it. The state party and its leadership should be providing, well, leadership. It is small wonder that Democrats are on the outside looking in at all levels of state government.

Seriously?  We all have issues to deal with.  What the Democrats and Mr McG don't get, is that its temporary.  Yeah I said it.  Until the REAL Tea types who are keeping the establishment in power have a bit more control, its going to roll back and forth a little. Yeah you guys are a little more prone to the rougher edges, and "by any means necessary" ain't just a cute name for a bunch of dysfunctional freaks.  That's why tea flows right.

The cash-strapped city is offering an income tax amnesty program that runs through mid-February, Mayor Dave Bing announced Wednesday.

Starting Tuesday, those who owe income taxes to Detroit can pay them back without penalty. Anyone who hasn't filed an income tax return for 2011 and prior years may to participate.

Typical Progressive logic.  Those who abide by the law pay consequence for those that don't, and the Progressives excuse the law breakers from their illegal behavior.

State Rep. Alberta Tinsley-Talabi took a Caribbean trip, campaign cash and a donation from a businessman while supporting his $10 million city pension fund deal, The Detroit News has learned.

Federal court records chronicle the trip and payments from indicted Georgia businessman Roy Dixon in 2007, when Tinsley-Talabi was a city councilwoman and trustee on the Detroit Police & Fire pension board.

The Detroit Democrat has not been charged in the widening, years-long federal probe of City Hall corruption and the city's pension funds that has resulted in two dozen convictions, including Tinsley-Talabi's former colleague, ex-City Council President Monica Conyers.

Tinsley-Talabi did not return multiple phone messages, but one former colleague said he's disappointed by the disclosure.

Wasn't the Hathaway Family disappointed when caught, too?  Feh.  Whatever.  I asked before, and I'll state it clearly this time... Michigan's Socialist do not care as long as their agenda incrementally moves - Forward!

Matt Frendewey, director of communications for the Michigan Republican Party, issued the following statement:

"Democratic Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway must protect the integrity of Michigan's judicial system and immediately resign.

"Justice Hathaway's real estate scam involved transferring properties out her and her husband's name into the name of their children in order to obtain a short sale. Her actions are offensive to the many Michigan families who have faced difficult times during Michigan's economic down turn. As a justice on the highest court in Michigan, Hathaway's involvement in the alleged scam, the FBI investigation, and today's complaint undermines her ability to affectively sit in a position of judgment over Michigan citizens and the state's judicial system.

"Swift and immediate action is required before Hathaway's scandal scars the highest court. I can only hope that Michigan Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer, a lawyer himself, recognizes good policy must trump partisan politics and will join the Michigan Republican Party in calling for Justice Hathaway's resignation."

Michigan Supreme Court Justice Diane Hathaway faces allegations of defrauding her bank by hiding assets to unload a $1.5 million Lake St. Clair home on a short sale and escape $600,000 in debt, The Detroit News has learned.

U.S. District Attorney Barbara McQuade filed a civil complaint Monday in Michigan's Eastern District seeking forfeiture of Hathaway's posh second home in suburban Orlando, Fla.

McQuade charged that Hathaway and her husband, attorney Michael Kingsley, "systematically and fraudulently transferred property and hid assets in order to support their claim to (ING Direct) that they did not have the financial resources to pay the mortgage on the Michigan property."

The complaint claims Hathaway and Kingsley engaged in money laundering, but neither has been charged criminally in the case.
