Tire Tracks Across Your Back?By JGillman, Section News
Wow.
All I can say is I wouldn't want to be the dog waiting to be kicked when the Oakland County Chair gets home.
According to the Detroit News, the Oakland County Democrat Party will: "review its protocols after reports that a top staffer appears to be among the operatives behind the effort to get Tea Party candidates registered in Michigan. He crossed the line.. the line on the side of the road. Then he was hit by the bus McGuinness is driving, then backing up. My guess is repeatedly.. backing up.
I can picture the conversation now..
Bauer: "You told me to get a bunch of my friends to be candidates..." McGuinness: "I told you to get candidates, and Brewer specifically said to makes sure that none of them had histories" Bauer: well the 20 year olds had no history.. McGuinness: "But you signed your name to those affidavits.. You didn't think that would be traced? for the love of GOD.. you couldn't have found someone else to sign them?" Bauer: "If we got someone else we would have had to have the candidates present" McGuinness: What do you mean? They weren't there? You NOTARIZED without them there? Bauer: "How could I? Heather..." [PHONE RINGS] [McGuinness answers and has a heated conversation with the caller] McGuinness: "Crap, it was Brewer.. He says Jocelyn is pissed. ..you are taking the fall for this Bauer." Bauer: "..." Of course Bauer is looking to be the guy who will take the blame, and McGuinness' actual quote from the news is a pretty good indication what comes next. It will be interesting to see how Bauer decides to handle his new found predicament. Does he tell the whole story, which fully implicates Brewer and the funding sources (estimated at over $100K) which will be discovered shortly anyhow, OR does he take the fall completely if only temporarily and HOPE that Brewer is honorable and pays him off in some manner. It is hard to imagine such a large statewide operation could go on without the knowledge of Bauer's boss, much less without the snickering behind the scenes from Brewer and Benson who likely thought they had come up with a funny as hell way to deal with those pesky "tea partiers" for the November election. The REAL question now, is who the money came from in the first place. But as we have seen with the development of this story, usually the first guess is the best.
