Just a short note to point out that even the Democrats in the Tea Party Movement are making a difference tonight in the primary races.
The "conservative", or perhaps more accurately the traditionalist part of the Democrat party has turned out Arlen Specter, and at the same time repudiating the plans of the president who declared that he loved the turncoat Senator. The winner for the democrat senate primary in PA, Joe Sestak had distanced himself from Obama's key plans by claiming he would not have voted for either cap & Trade OR the health care bill. Though it is easy to say, it carried enough for democrats to turn out the President's pick with prejudice. (3 comments, 471 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
I have been a supporter of the Michigan Fair Tax for some time. Personally, I think it may need a tweak to consider the difficulty of service tax collection, but is the type of structure we need to look at.
Roger Buchholtz of the MIFairtax provided the following report, and AFP has graciously provided the forum and video of our three best candidates: Mike Bouchard, Mike Cox and Pete Hoekstra debated before a crowd of over 1,500 people that attended an Americans For Prosperity (AFP) Summit in Clarkston last Saturday. The debate was polite but at times spirited as moderator Phil Kerpen, VP of Policy at AFP asked the candidates a wide range of questions in the 90 minute debate. When the candidates were asked their position on the MI FairTax all candidates spoke favorably of the proposal. The MI FairTax is a 9.75% retail sales tax that would replace the current 6% sales tax, 4.35% Michigan personal income tax and most business taxes. Too much to ignore.. From the Detroit news..
"We have hit bottom," Granholm said in a wide-ranging interview with CNN's Candy Crowley, host of the Sunday morning "State of the Union" show. "But we've got to keep pushing on this move to diversify our economy and educate our kids." And... Why have we hit bottom? I mean.. just saying.. Especially when you follow up with "we've got to keep pushing on this move to diversify.."

As we figured, the loony leftists still take their cues from Granholm, and we see a pattern of the same type of thinking from a wannabe execulyte Mr. Scat Man Virge Bernero. It seems Virge doesn't like Cox's efforts defending the constitution and the citizens of Michigan. The Lansing potentate might even stick to his guns and tear apart what little is left of the Democrat party in Michigan while he is at it. ...Ok... fine by me..
Attorney General Mike Cox today issued the following response to a new attack ad by Lansing Mayor Virg Benero, the latest in a series of attacks by Democrats over Cox's lawsuit to overturn the unconstitutional Obama-Pelosi health care bill:
"Mayor Bernero is absolutely right; I am suing to stop Obamacare. What Bernero doesn't seem to grasp is the fact that the Constitution matters. There are Constitutional limits to what Congress can force individuals to do and I am fighting this bill because it exceeds those limits, no matter how badly Bernero, Governor Granholm or Nancy Pelosi want to carry President Obama's water.
Indeed.. We can see that Virge wants to make sure all of his big labor puppet masters can keep his floppy arms in play a little longer as their best meaty marionette. They pull a string, and he dances! So note that its not enough to bridge the partisan divide with a slash or a slice, or a kick funny dance at an AG's appropriate constitutional response, but he has to try for a twofer, by needling Dillon, who has necessarily p-oed the labor element infesting our state employment rolls, and extorting taxpayers with kick backs and special favors. A couple of days ago, Things started happening that are of grave concern to Michigan and our country. The health care "reform" act was passed with the help of all of Michigan Democrat congressmen, and the solutions from Michigan's prospective governors started to appear. News reports and releases have given us a little insight to where these Republican candidates stand.
Mike Cox has filed a lawsuit coinciding with other state's attorneys general, citing the unconstitutionality of the new federal law. Pete Hoekstra as a member of Congress has been in the front line battle against the package, and has referred to the AG's plan in what could be described as a supportive stance. Mike Bouchard has said Cox's effort is a "flawed approach." suggesting that Michigan's better option would be to withhold money going to the federal government. And Rick Snyder and Tom George remain conspicuously quiet. (6 comments, 952 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
How could the day slip by without the mention of RMs favorite tax raiser, and his ambition to be top executive of the state of Michigan? Certainly would we not be forgetting to talk about the one, the man, the only speaker EVER to be recalled for removal in Michigan, Mr. Andy Dillon.
It seems as though it was only Months ago, that we were praising the House Speaker for his stand on a state employee health purchasing option. In fact it WAS only months ago, that Dillon (contrary to the position of his union supporters) rang the bell, leaving little wiggle room for speculation that he would abstain from the governors race in this upcoming cycle. He expressed a relatively "conservative" position on the matter, and set the tone for what will now follow as an slightly more than interesting primary race for the Michigan Democrat party. But he is still a tax raiser. (2 comments, 904 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section Multimedia
