Tyranny, broadly defined, is the use of power to dehumanize the individual and delegitimize his nature.  Political utopianism is tyranny disguised as a desirable, workable, and even paradisiacal governing ideology.

Individual sovereignty is under attack.

Not the wacko, every-man-is-a-sovereign-the-United-States-is-a-corporation kind of sovereignty, but the notion that, as individuals, we have worth and dignity that deserve protection.

This attack exists in every corner of our society and has found its way into our language.  Liberal politicians talk about the "cost" of a tax cut and ask conservatives, "How are you going to pay for that tax cut?"  They thus view tax cuts as expenditures, but expenditures of what?  Of the money to which they deem the government entitled.  

A tax cut "spends" nothing.  It is an acknowledgment that the money being taxed belongs in the first instance to the earner, not the government.  Most Americans would willingly pay taxes to support legitimate government functions, but we resist ferociously the notion that our incomes belong to the government.

Once considered a long shot, Rick Santorum has taken a 33 to 27% lead over Mitt Romney the presumed front runner in his home state.  From USA today:

An American Research Group poll shows Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, leading Romney 33% to 27% among likely GOP voters. Santorum's lead over Romney is 15 percentage points in a Michigan survey by Public Policy Polling.

The Michigan primary is Feb. 28

As expected, the collapse of Newt's surge will coincide well with the realization by many that Romneycare IS Obamacare.  Romney for his part never breaking loose from the 25-30% base of centrists who would prefer the candidate with the right amount of money, over candidates with the right ideas.

The lefties are in charge, their EPA is destroying business, the justice department is destroying our borders, the president is destroying our world standing as a super power, the treasury and fed destroying our currency, the previous congress has set the timer for self destruct on healthcare, and the current and presumably 'better' congress cannot even show the skills needed to stop the fiscal bleeding. Michigan's own congressmen have been stitching their fingers together ala super committees, and even the good doctor Dan has wrapped the gauze a little too tightly choking off the air that provides for common sense.

How important is 2012 to you?

Think death-star-about-to-blow-up-the-planet kind of important.

An article by John Hawkins on 7 Reasons Why Mitt Romney's Electability Is A Myth was a reminder that there are people who are more motivated by charisma, charm, and I might dare say 'gravitas', than by substantive policy concern. Hawkins starts off:

"1) People just don't like Mitt Romney: The entire GOP primary process so far has consisted of Republican voters desperately trying to find an alternative to Mitt Romney. Doesn't it say something that GOP primary voters have, at one time or another, preferred Donald Trump, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, and now even Ron Paul (In Iowa) to Mitt Romney?

To some people, this is a plus. They think that if conservatives don't like Mitt Romney, that means moderates will like him. This misunderstands how the process of attracting independent voters works in a presidential race. While it's true the swayable moderates don't want to support a candidate they view as an extremist, they also don't just automatically gravitate towards the most "moderate" candidate. To the contrary, independent voters tend to be moved by the excitement of the candidate's base (See John McCain vs. Barack Obama for an example of how this works). This is how a very conservative candidate like Ronald Reagan could win landslide victories. He avoided being labeled an extremist as Goldwater was, yet his supporters were incredibly enthusiastic and moderates responded to it.

Let's be perfectly honest; Mitt Romney excites no one except for Mormons, political consultants, and Jennifer Rubin. To everybody else, Mitt Romney vs. Barack Obama is a "lesser of two evils" election where we'll grudgingly back Mitt because we won't lose as badly with him in the White House as we would with Obama. That's not the sort of thing that gets anyone fired up to make phone calls, canvass neighborhoods, or even put up "I heart Mitt" signs in their yards. "

The political season for Obama has just begun, and his propensity to use public funds to enhance his personal greatness is a phenomenon only imagined in our founder's worst nightmares. Congressman Huizenga should know better than to put any trust in the hyena of hyenas, Barack Obama.  This trip was simply about Obama, not the area, its manufacturing, its workers, or any cooperation with a local Michigan government.

Obama's disregard for the expense on his behalf says so. If only based on the flight time of Colonel "Jeeves" his personal jet driver.

MICHIGAN GOP PRESIDENTIAL SELECTION TOWN HALLS

Concerned Citizens, MI GOP State Committee Members & Grassroots Activists Invited to Voice Opinion in a Transparent Series of Forums

The Michigan Republican Party's State Committee is scheduled to choose a method of selecting the Republican Presidential Nominee for Michigan on Saturday, August 13, 2011.  Additionally, the Michigan GOP's State Committee's Policy Committee is slated to make a decision on Tuesday, July 12th.  Their vote will recommend to the full State Committee which process should be followed in Michigan regarding selecting the GOP's nominee by Michigan Republicans and possibly the general public.  However, many feel that we have not yet had an open and transparent process to solicit the opinions of grassroots activists and concerned Republicans across the state.  Please join us as we have an open discussion about the options to determine the next GOP Presidential nominee.  We have invited elected Michigan Republican State Committee Members, party leaders, grassroots activists and concerned citizens to listen to each other so that the Michigan Republican State Committee can make an informed decision on this critical topic for our important state and nation.  

Herman Cain former CEO, and savior of Godfathers Pizza announced today he would be staking his fortune, his livelihood, and his time in an effort to restore decency to the office of the president of the United states.

"After prayerful consideration with my family and closest friends, I have decided to seek the Republican nomination for president of the United States. I look forward to continuing my travels across the country, engaging in discussions with the American people about the concerns facing our nation and sharing my 'common sense solutions' with them."

His cancer free state for the last few years is a credit to the exceptional health care system in the united states according to Cain.  After receiving a diagnosis of liver and colon cancer in 2006, Cain turned to prayer, and our country's unmatchable medical care, and turned away the life ending disease.
