To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

Some tips:

Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Not So Fast

Mr. Finley.

I like your work usually. I am not often your worst critic, but you are making the same mistake as those folks who think "the middle is where it's at" have made for years. Its what has screwed this country up in the first place. And its what was turned out in a number of primaries around the country, in a process that will continue to be done as long as we have a chance to rescue our constitution from the lefties and milquetoast RINOs.

Nolan Finley writes yesterday about Trump, Palin, Bachmann as if they are on the same wavelength. Adding in Herman Cain, he postures further, that these four are as likely to be on the Republican presidential ticket as Dennis Kucinich.

Right.

And then he adds:

"Meanwhile, the Republicans with a legitimate shot at the nomination and a serious message to bring are practically ignored. Trump has accrued more air time over the past two months than have former Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana and former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts combined."

Nolan? Repeat after me: "I have largely ignored the message by the Tea Party over the last two years, and find myself afraid to challenge the conventional wisdom as designed by my media masters." Its true.

And you may be right that Trump will not be there. But for far different reasons that are as alien to your consideration as the square peg-round hole association of Palin, Caine, or Bachmann to Trump.

Happy Birthday Ronald Reagan

No politician that I am aware, has elicited the kind of emotional fondness from both sides of the political spectrum as Ronald Reagan. Often, the praise exhibited by those on the left is that which describes him as a President who got along and compromised with Democrats. And often the praise from the right is that which recognizes his stalwart conservatism.

Many of us have seen the speech in which the gipper talks of principled leadership:

I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, "We must broaden the base of our party" - when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.
Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?
Let our banner proclaim our belief in a free market as the greatest provider for the people.

His impatience not unlike our own which can be brought about by those Republicans who sway from their convictions, who are well wishing, and cannot find the ability to stand solidly during tests of principle.

Charley Reese is a retired syndicated columnist (via King Features) who worked for the Orlando Sentinel from 1971 to 2001. On March 7, 1985, he wrote a column entitled, "Looking For Someone To Blame? Congress Is A Good Place To Start." This was a slightly updated version of his "Just 546 people to blame for U.S. errors," which was published on July 17, 1983, in the Elyria, Ohio, Chronicle-Telegram. The column has been republished multiple times since then (notably in 1995 and in 2008), always with minor updating, and usually under the title "The 545 People Responsible for America's Woes," but with no change to the core point.

What follows is my best effort to effectively blend the most widely circulated versions of the original article; I only hope that I do justice to the original work.

In light of the situation we find ourselves in as a county, coupled with the fact that we have a President for whom change is everything, I think it would be a worthwhile venture to survey our two most recent presidents. Let us now endeavor to take a look at these two men, not from our feelings and/or subjective impressions, but from an open minded look at history.

Before we get started, we (including myself) must admit that true objectivity is impossible for human beings. Yes, even Danian Michael brings his biases to every situation, but so do you. For example: It is easier for a conservative to look past the misdeeds of George Bush. During the Bush administration, Republicans in congress did not oppose the growth of government. Conversely, it is easier for Democrats and
Liberals to turn a blind eye to the misdeeds of President Obama. Democrats for example think nothing of Obama proposing a 7 trillion dollar deficit over the next 10 years, yet would not give former president Bush a moments rest for spending a small (very small) fraction of that amount on the war on terror.[1] So let's not kid ourselves, all of us, without exception, understand this world through the prism of our belief systems.
