Things have a way of developing fast in the conservative driven Republican Presidential Primary.

Once considered a long shot, Rick Santorum has taken a 33 to 27% lead over Mitt Romney the presumed front runner in his home state.  From USA today:

An American Research Group poll shows Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, leading Romney 33% to 27% among likely GOP voters. Santorum's lead over Romney is 15 percentage points in a Michigan survey by Public Policy Polling.

The Michigan primary is Feb. 28

    Not surprising at all.

As expected, the collapse of Newt's surge will coincide well with the realization by many that Romneycare IS Obamacare.  Romney for his part never breaking loose from the 25-30% base of centrists who would prefer the candidate with the right amount of money, over candidates with the right ideas.

    Still developing.

    ARG vs. PPP (none / 0) (#1)
by InksLWC on Mon Feb 13, 2012 at 03:14:50 PM EST
ARG is a terrible polling company.  PPP has been pretty good at polling this cycle (with the exception of the smaller caucus states, but those are hard to predict period).  I suspect Santorum's lead among voters is probably closer to PPP's number (although it seems a bit high), but it'll probably close up to a tight race by the time we get to the 28th.

    I'd go with (none / 0) (#3)

Rasmussen every time.  However, their poll is almost 2 weeks old, so it will have to be updated... probably in a week or so.

Santorum up 9 in Mitchell Poll (none / 0) (#15)

That's four polls now. PPP, ARG, Rasmussen, Mitchell.

    Santorum 34
    Romney 25
    Paul 11
    Gingrich 5

The question is whether it holds up the next two weeks.
