First of all, people can want to their hearts desire.
There are certain truisms however. Diamonds are sparkly, fish swim in the sea, electricity allows us to interact in this way, and "Marriage," is between a man and a woman. Call it what you want, "pairing," "Coupling," "Partnering," etc.. but its not marriage unless its between a man and a woman. And to be clear, it is NOT a civil right. On the old blog, Kevin Heine posted a great article on a recent manufactured issue within the Michigan Republican Party. At the end of it he posted a video that is well worth the watch.

Rick Snyder used a Chicago Democrat and (BIG) Obama Donor to run his transition team.
Rick Snyder then selected a Democrat to be the state treasurer. Then Rick Snyder used him to assist in selecting another Democrat to manage Detroit. Race was used in the selection process, contrary to the Michigan constitution; article 1, section 26. Then Rick Snyder gave the Chicago Democrat a cushy job in Michigan state government making $140k a year. Oh yeah.. BIIIIIIIIG Tent. By JGillman, Section News
Bub?
OK, in the last couple of days, I have railed on about transparency, and frankly have had to go on offense, in defense of Ruth Johnson's courageous suggestion. I will admit to being a little reactionary because of the dunderhead commentary of McNeilly and his faux front, "Freedom Fund,"(click on the link, its a tension breaker) but still hold to the standards described. That flatly, we should aspire to true openness. The language added to exceptions of regulated monies under SB661 (Amending the Michigan campaign finance act) is clearly a push back on Johnson's intention to open those shuttered windows into shadowy financing and advocacy. The added exemption reads: "(j) An expenditure for a communication if the communication does not in express terms advocate the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate so as to restrict the application ofthis act to communications containing express words of advocacy of election or defeat, such as "vote for", "elect", "support", "cast your ballot for", "Smith for governor", "vote against", "defeat", or "reject".Making sure she cannot pursue transparency on this as is allowed under the constitution of the US and the state. It limits her statutorily. Many on the conservative side are actually a little more concerned however about THIS little gem. Lines struck out from the MCFA read: With no replacement language. Golly, what might the establishment be up to? (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Team Snyder doesn't give two whits about the constitution, perspective of GOP objectives, or the platform of the party.
What an incredible opportunity this 'shutdown' offers us, yet all that they can come up with is self congratulatory political 'twerking'. Rather than applaud a stand for what most republicans profess as their principles, the nerd sycophant unit offers underhanded criticism to the one thing that is going as it should. Greg McNeilly self proclaimed 'decider' of whom might be an "invasive species", or "Malcontent, magpie", et.. Falls short of identifying the Obama/Reid cabal which has in fact been solely responsible for the shutdown in DC: "There could not be a stronger contrast between the actions of Gov. Snyder and the House and Senate Republicans and the irresponsibility of Washington, D.C. politicians. Michigan's responsible leaders balanced the budget months ahead of schedule, put money aside for a rainy day and still ended up with a surplus. This from a press release about an hour ago.
Gosh Greggie, we are so impressed! And Real leadership like this deserves an award.
Will a burning paper bag with mystery contents (hint .. you might want to use an old shoe to stomp it out.) outside the front door be sufficient? By JGillman, Section News
The full press release was sent to several outlets, resulting in a MIRS Podcast out soon, and a couple of radio interviews.
From discussions, outreach and even the most casual conversations on Friday at the island, it was very easy to get the sense that many Republicans on the island were VERY open to the idea of exorcising the Governor. Even though one watching the broadcast last night live might have seen an excited party, the reality is that a great number of the GOP active types would prefer a new nominee, and some (not quite a majority) would be willing to endure gridlock for a few years. The good news for my part is that there are still three possibilities. They are quite aware there is a growing support for a replacement, and two of them have indicated an interest in becoming that replacement if things fall together. Good times. In any event, go below the fold for the press release (6 comments, 1229 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Yessirree, Jerry even lost his own state. Nobody buys Democrat-lite when the real thing costs the same vote. Fact. (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
To the progressives, the hospital lobby, and the left "how can I help you"
But to the base of the Republican Party?
Alrighty then. Tell me again about how Snyder hasn't poisoned Republican leadership? (3 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
