Education, responsibility, and duty.  It is a common sense partnership for a Lawful, and civil society.  Wisconsin's Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr., is an honorable American.  I would be proud of any of our 83 sheriffs in Michigan, who'd step up with stating the same message.

Most folks can't hold on to a thought for more than a minute or so before the phone rings, or a hot flash news item distracts them.  In fact lives have become so busy, its amazing that understanding of cause and effect is as broad as the 5% that it seems to be. In fact I fear analytical abilities are on the wane. Without that important skill, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep people focused on what has truly become the enemy of our liberty.

When government controls our purse, we are not truly free.

Period.

Below the fold, is a new project I hope will help to reverse the trend towards political and economic ignorance.  It will be offered free for a time to radio stations that wish to have a morning minute type programming, or even something for fill in between programming.  It will be edgy, and hopefully coherent.  

The idea came while making commercials for the state representative race I was recently involved with.  As one of the most effective parts of the campaign, it was clear how effective radio could be if used properly.  At the same time, it provides a new programming option for stations that want to enhance their talk radio line up.

Never mind the danger signs of a character not so unlike the woman who wrecked Michigan so bad, it started a trend nationally.  Never mind the irresponsible buy now pay later attitude Democrats generally have when it comes to government.  Just do like the Republican leadership:

"LANSING -- An ambitious proposal by state Senate Democrats to provide free tuition to Michigan high school grads enrolled at state colleges and universities -- with an estimated cost of $1.8 billion a year to start -- earned the respectful attention Wednesday of the Republican majority on the Senate Finance Committee.

But that may be the high-water mark for a plan that aims to significantly increase the percentage of Michiganders with college degrees but doesn't specify where the money to do it will come from."

This is the underlying message you will hear quite often from those who are a part of, or advocate charter schools.  The message simply stating that more choice means that more parents and children will have more options, and the opportunity to fully engage in the learning process. It means they will be better prepared, and have the best chance to succeed ultimately.

The public schools as mandated currently, are a trap.  With a singular model (for the most part) that relies on the MEA and the NEA and union literature to determine educational materials, and streamline a single path of learning that robs children of their chances to succeed.

And it doesn't have to be that way.

As it was related to me by an operator of a school up here, the teachers in some of the charter schools are actually re-trained from the public school model, and provisioned with the ability to identify particular learning traits in the children.  Some kids respond to different types of education styles both positively and negatively.  As there is no doubt we all have different things that inspire us, it should be no surprise that learning can be enhanced by discovering that which holds the students attention longer.  New Options equal New Opportunities.

For Michigan, there is hope with SB618. It is a bill which allows the creation and operation of new charter schools, and opens the doors to new cyber school possibilities.  It creates new options for both private and public education interests.

Its a chance to move the bar upward, and offer the benefits of competitive advantage to our kids.

Beckmann started the segment talking about the good news in the Governor's address on charter schools.  He introduced Quisenberry as "the man who has overseen charter schools in Michigan as a whole" and they talked a bit about Governor Snyder's speech.

Snyder is reinventing the schools, and how they spend.  And though I am not always on top of it here, it is a big deal.  His efforts have included mandates on bidding out high cost non teacher functions, and otherwise allowing unlimited competition from private and charter schools.  The bid out process essentially providing cover for school systems that need the political cover when dealing with an unforgiving union element. The charter schools element bringing the competition back into play.
