The futile exercise of responsible governance in today's America requires no further example than Detroit.
Detroit, the once beautiful jewel of Michigan, tortured with decades of progressivism, Cronyism, and corruption, just cannot stop failing. Somehow, in the midst of a bankruptcy, preceded by the spending of 15 or so billion dollars as yet unearned, and the jail sentences of ONLY a few of the officials responsible, the city still must do stupid things, like build water play fountains it cannot afford. Or make work. From Fox2: "They served up free ice cold bottled water and delicious grilled hot dogs. The T-shirts looked good reading "Palmer Park Splash Park" and the ribbon cutting went well. Just one little glitch at the new park, there was no water! A water main break dried up the splash park for its grand opening! So maybe, just maybe, the money spent on the splash park could have been spent towards that 100 year old water system first? Center mass. That is what gun control looks like. Thanks, Joe! We the People are truly fortunate our Founding Fathers were cognizant of the roving thugs that will always be part of humanity, and the especially dangerous variety of thugs being: in government. By Corinthian Scales, Section News

In a press release from the Mi News Wire, it appears the Michigan State Police are attempting to make the streets a whole lot safer.
The release starts: QR codes (quick response) are the latest "tech"-nique to curb drunk driving by helping motorists easily find a safe, sober ride home. Hundreds of bars and restaurants in Michigan will be serving drinks on coasters featuring the specially designed code. Using a smartphone app to scan the code, users will be provided with a phone list of local cab companies.* Wow! That is pretty cool! In fact, I am amazed at how the new technology can be used in so many different ways. And this QR code stuff is something we use for our own business, and have incorporated on our signs. The MSP have incorporated a way to enhance their donut shop time and get drunk drivers off the road. But its not in the way this story starts. ~ Below the fold ~ (1 comment, 688 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Though NOT what I would have thought to be the most important consideration, and something out of the blue during the governor's state of the state speech, the item pricing law has now generated more news than would have been thought. Given the out of nowhere nature that even had Skubick asking WTF on his state of the state commentary, it seems Snyder DID hit on something.
Something completely off the radar. My first thoughts were to give consideration to consumer protection, and seeing how even WITH the law in place there are times I have caught the wrong price being charged when shopping. The tag on the item made it easier to correct the issue immediately. And still, with with the personal responsibility angles I speak of often, it is hard to overcome what appears to be a certain normalcy. However, Something that gets the unions buzzing about like a stepped on hornet nest is worth a second look. And then this article (below the fold) popped up.
