Early Adoption And Coffee TimeBy JGillman, Section News
In a press release from the Mi News Wire, it appears the Michigan State Police are attempting to make the streets a whole lot safer.
The release starts: QR codes (quick response) are the latest "tech"-nique to curb drunk driving by helping motorists easily find a safe, sober ride home. Hundreds of bars and restaurants in Michigan will be serving drinks on coasters featuring the specially designed code. Using a smartphone app to scan the code, users will be provided with a phone list of local cab companies.* Wow! That is pretty cool! In fact, I am amazed at how the new technology can be used in so many different ways. And this QR code stuff is something we use for our own business, and have incorporated on our signs. The MSP have incorporated a way to enhance their donut shop time and get drunk drivers off the road. But its not in the way this story starts. ~ Below the fold ~
Laying the groundwork for the coaster program, The release continues.
"As sellers and servers of alcohol, MLBA members are on the front lines of the fight against drunken driving every day," said Scott Ellis, executive director of the MLBA. "This partnership with OHSP delivers an innovative new tool to offer our customers, promoting responsibility and safety across Michigan." A responsible person (note the bold type above) would let them know where they are. (so they can recommend the closest cab, silly!) Conscientious patrons can feel good knowing they have helped provide safe roads and as a bonus, efficient and productive policing. Being wasted has wonderful rewards, especially when you can use really cool technological tools! Scanning the image to the right will reveal the incredible rewards they might find with this wonderful new whatchamacallit. Oh and BTW? I have tested this. (the image above the fold) In fact I encourage everyone to test it. A lot. Around 5 AM (when the donuts are freshest.)
