  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Pure governmental a$$hattery.

How about a nice big bowl of Yooper Super Scooper Fudge ice cream?

Or Traverse City Cherry Bomb or maybe a sugar cone of Very Vernors?

Those flavors haven't been created yet but they could be in the Pure Michigan ice cream contest, which kicks off Wednesday.

Pure Michigan is teaming up with Hudsonville Ice Cream in an effort to help promote the bounty of food and agricultural products available in the state.

    REST

At least I know which Crapitalism brand name not to buy from now on.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Low Information And White Elephants

Troy had the right idea, and the right Mayor.

    Once upon a time.

Mayor Janice Daniels in December of 2011 led the opposition in the Troy City Council for an $8.5 million train depot for good reason.  Her opposition to a project that would be built with free money was framed with an understanding that nothing is truly free.  Even after the project was stripped down a month later, and re-presented for a couple million less, she held her ground, and looked at the bigger picture.  Ongoing expenses make the continuing use of the pusher-man's product not nearly as euphoric as when it was offered for free.

The Troy City Council didn't get it, and the vote for the effort was shifted. Even in the face of the citizen commentary that was recorded as 11-7 in opposition to the transit center.  As RightMichigan.com poster Rougman pointed out at the time, its $5,500/sq ft cost was stripped down to $3,100/sq ft (a travesty for its cheapness) and the gold plated accoutrements would have to be withheld.

"By shaving off 400 square feet the project's cost has been lowered significantly. That was some expensive square footage there--roughly coming in at $5,500 per square foot. The smaller and redrawn project will cost a mere $3,100 per square foot which I find absolutely alarming...what kind of slum are these bureaucrats trying to push over on us? No gold toilet seats? No granite counter tops?"

    Indeed.

    Continued below the fold.

Honestly, anyone on their wildest benders couldn't make this stuff up.

"Not on the full plan," said Snyder Press Secretary Sara Wurfell. "We need to take a closer look at it and see."

Snyder did note in his statement that Michigan has already implemented many proposals similar to the president's on a state level and noted infrastructure spending could help fund projects the state hopes to complete.

Oh, Hussein Odowngrade, the broke President... please gimme, gimme, gimme dat money for my NAFTA Bridge and goonion labor.
