The politics of parks in Michigan seems to be heating up.
Where else can the feel good elitist Lefties spend taxpayer money anymore with nary a peep from the paying-forever class. Parks programs are a great excuse to build dynasties, develop social connections, ensure a support base for political aspirees. But who can argue against the 'healthy impact' a strong parks and rec program has on your local community? The claims are ever-so-common, and made by those who operate such programs, yet would be hard pressed to prove such assertions if actually challenged. Mission creep within a department assigned to make accessible park and land resources owned by a local municipality, is near guaranteed when operators or directors discover the ultimate weakness of their Parks & Rec degrees. That a degree earned while squandering 4 to 6 years away in our taxpayer subsidized university systems has little to no value in the real world, except where people are too busy to note the difference between government programming and individual initiative. For SE Michigan, it will be ALL of Michigan's taxpayers who will be soon footing the bill for programming and access they will never use. In Grand traverse County, the political will to support such 'programming' in our parks is about to be tested. To which I say, "About damned time".

You might recall some of the other "retirements" just prior to the 2010 elections, where US congress critters decided to call it quits rather than be humiliated at the polls. Those elections were so bad for the Democrats, that even the president coined the event as a "shellacking."
While the pundits attempt to watch the Tea Kettle boil, those liberals in congress who for years have failed their constituents and saddled our youth with decades of unmanageable debt, are seeing their futures as bleak indeed. November 2010 was not a fluke, and will be repeated. Another has fallen. Below (10 comments, 433 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News

~ A reminder to keep on talking. We shall not be silenced. - repost from MTTM ~
A very bad thing happened yesterday. A deranged man attacked a public figure, for a reason that only he might know. In the process, he also attacked and killed others who may, or may not have been intended targets. Apparently the initial target was a Democrat, and he used a gun. As was expected, there is posturing in the editorial theater about where the responsibility lays for yesterdays horrific act. As was also expected, the initial barrage was aimed at conservative groups or individuals for 'fanning the flames' with talk radio, tea parties etc. And there is no surprise that Sarah Palin, whom the left fears with the darkest and seemingly largest parts of their souls, would become a target yet again.
While there are countless blogs, and news articles that link Palin's electoral target map to this one man's insanity, I will present the work of merely ONE writer, as it encompasses the complete propaganda package in it's entirety. A liberal explains why she wants to raise everyone's taxes. By JGillman, Section News
Today, Snyder, Schuette, Johnson, and a host of others took their positions up as wished upon them by the voters in this state.
Rick Snyder: "We need to stop being divisive and be inclusive. We have spent too much time fighting among ourselves, and have become our own worst enemy," Tell me you didn't write that yourself, and that you borrowed it from the Center for Michigan. Inclusive perhaps, if it is inclusive of the reality that leftist policies brought us here. This "moment of opportunity" you mentioned at another point, is indeed that. Sir, If you go down the road of everybody gets their pet project saved, we won't be using that opportunity very well. This is an opportunity to perhaps share a little of the reality the taxpayers who are NOT employed in state government, must endure. De-certifying the unions would be a good start in helping the State employees KEEP their jobs. I was the worst critic of the nerd before he won in the primary. I must admit however, I have been pretty silent on Snyder's expected performance because I think we can make a lot of noise that doesn't much matter at this point. When he screws up, we will be right there. The event today had Snyder talking about his family's prior service in the capitol. His maternal grandfather apparently was a custodian there. kind of a neat story actually, demonstrating the level in which a family can grow in Michigan, and in this nation once revered as the basket of opportunity of the world. Opportunity in Michigan and nationwide destroyed by the type of leftist Marxism exhibited by Snyder's predecessor and the wrecking crew known as our current federal administration. We can at least start the healing now. ~ more below ~ (6 comments, 722 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section Multimedia
