I recently came back from the Romeo Area Tea Party/Southeast Michigan 9-12 Meeting this evening featuring Trevor Loudon author of "The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists and Progressives in the U.S. Congress".
For those of you who have not had the opportunity to hear him speak, I would highly recommend doing so. In the packed room with about 250-300 people attending, when you get two standing ovations before you even begin to speak, that's usually a pretty good indication that you're going to hear a good speaker. This evening, he didn't disappoint. Even after an almost 2-hour long speech, I'm still decompiling the amount of information that he had gone over from his book on 14 sitting US Senators and over 50 US Representatives, without so much as using notes or cards the entire time, along with their connections with the CPUSA, DSA, WWP, WPC, USPC & a huge laundry list of other groups who have influenced their policy positions. Many of his connections, including a certain US Senate Candidate from Michigan, just might surprise you. His section about supporting groups (i.e. unions) and how their positions have changed in just the past 10-20 years was also a little eye-opening. For those worried about throwing out unsubstantiated accusations, he also included numerous citations on all of the people included in his book. He has a very short speaking schedule. From what I have been able to piece together from what was announced at tonight's meeting, he will only be in Michigan for this week only. Here are the upcoming dates and locations:
Lapeer County Tea Party Patriots If there are any questions (or if you would like to confirm times), I would recommend calling the venues listed above. If you are unable to attend, the Romeo Area Tea Party had a crew videoing the event. I'll post a link when it becomes available. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Apparently Congressman Tim Walberg (CD7) has been answering constituent phone calls this week as Congress works on limited resources during the government shutdown.
"It's all hands on deck for me and my staff - and that includes me helping with phone calls - as operations have been limited by the [Democrat controlled] Senate's unwillingness to discuss a compromise with the House. Most callers are appreciative that I'm here to listen to what they have to say as I work towards finding solutions to fund the government. My staff and I remain committed to providing excellent constituent and legislative services during this difficult period."emphasis mine. Rep Walberg is also encouraging constituents to send him at email with their comments and concerns at: https://walberg.house.gov/contact/contactform.htm. There are ample opportunities for other congressmen from Michigan to keep us informed here as well. hint hint By JGillman, Section Multimedia
Peters is the guy the Dems will be presenting as their choice for US Senate.
This ad mocks Peters Washington record, and abuses the pure Michigan campaign slightly.

I want Dave Camp to enter the US Senate race.
And there is no question about it. The MIGOP critters want Dave Camp to enter the US Senate race. In fact they are even 'beastly' about it: "Camp is now seriously considering jumping into the race at the behest of power-brokers back home, according to sources familiar with the congressman's thinking. A small but influential group of Michigan GOP leaders has cranked up the heat on Camp, making the case that he could appeal to independents statewide and win the seat. Camp, they say, has been increasingly receptive to their appeals.By golly we agree.
Yes, I want Dave Camp to run for US Senate. Continued below the fold. ~ (1 comment, 721 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Once in a while we need to be reminded that the lefties HATE plant food.
Badly enough to risk Michigan manufacturing jobs as I have pointed out before: "Its a sure bet Michigan jobs will go away in certain parts of the upper peninsula, and given the backhanded way in which the current white house occupiers pee where they eat, it is likely not an isolated concern.¹ A billion here, a billion there. Hardly any pressure on the working stiffs when those costs are passed along.Right. Congress had already done its snow job pre-2010 election however. And today, President Obama will unveil his plan to bypass Congress to force a radical climate change plan which will have devastating ramifications for Michiganders.
Democrat Gary Peters (as with many others) worked to help elect Barack Obama, and as a Congressman, bears his own responsibility for setting the liberal enviro-whacko policy agenda that will destroy jobs, raise energy costs, and hurt working families in states like Michigan. Peters has been a loyal supporter of President Obama's liberal agenda, voting with him nearly 90% of the time, including on extreme climate change measures that would hurt Michigan's economy. Peters "proudly" supports the egregiously costly Cap and Trade legislation that work destroy jobs and raise taxes on middle class families and workers. However long it takes for the sleepy reps in the US house to take up this inane garbage.
The premise that promoted the Marketplace Fairness Act, which flew through the house tonight by a vote of 69-27, is that it is fair to those poor street based businesses, and already SOME groups are touting this as a win for the local shop-keeper or mom and pop store. And not only are pro brick and mortar lobbyists happy. Michigan legislators are drooling at the potential windfall of nearly $450 million they feel is not being collected as sales tax receipts today. Wow! More money without raising taxes! Sorta Kinda. What the geniuses in Lansing and our nations capitol do not understand however, is the incredible dynamic nature of a truly FREE market. The way things are at this time allows a flexibility that will be gone under a 'new management' consortium of nearly 40 states. (Our newest silent partners - with waiting baseball bats) This is not to say that people should not pay their taxes for online purchases, but Lansing lawmakers like Kowall and those who might actually saddle up with this not-so-well thought out plan to eek out that extra pocket change from Michigan taxpayers just puts 20 lb hammers in the hands of other states' legislatures, and marks any internet retailers who call Michigan home as spikes who are only going to be made part of the grade. And the train rolls on. Continued below. (3 comments, 761 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
National Republican Senatorial Committee Communications Director, Brad Dayspring's statement on Rep. Peters reportedly entering the Senate race:
"Gary Peters already lost a statewide campaign and that was before supporting a cap and trade energy tax policy that would effectively put Michigan out of business and ObamaCare which will raise health care costs. It takes a special kind of guy like Peters to ask for a promotion from the very same people that his policies would put out of work. What he said. It should be noted however, that Peters enters with about $800k to start. Sans a fight in the Democrat primaries, it is likely a sufficient start. Presumed entrant Mike Rogers' reported $1.4 M would be spent down considerably in an expected multi-candidate contest by Republicans. Rogers seems to have some other baggage to climb over as well. Have you ever taken your socks off after three days use, and put them back in the drawer unwashed to be used again at a later date?
NO? Me either. It just happens to be the analogy (well ONE of them) that comes to mind with what appears to be Michigan Democrat's pick for the US senate seat that is being vacated by Carl Levin in 2014. Gary Peters is one of those cats that have been around for too long, with policy desires that stink to high heaven, and will be hauled out for even higher levels of destructive office occupation when they have nothing better to offer. And they really don't. Have. Any. Better. Oh..Whats that smell?
MEET MICHIGAN DEM'S #1 RECRUIT For US SENATE There is nothing like a made up global crisis to provide for a cronyism scheme that is enforced by government to instill confidence in a free people, hmm? His vote for the The job killing Waxman-Markey Bill; The "American Clean Energy And Security Act Of 2009" cleared the house 219-212. Had it passed the senate, it would have mandated changes in the way we live our lives, eventually putting controls on when and HOW we could use energy without paying severe penalties. In fact, if taken to the extremes, the air you breathe could have actually been taxed under that bill. Take a deep breath. There is more. The effect on industry would have been even more draconian, effectively putting the EPA in charge of operational elements of all industry, adding regulatory expense and killing jobs. A 20% mandate on renewable energy built in to the bill would have made it nearly impossible for energy producers to keep costs at a level that promotes local (U.S.A.) manufacturing and jobs. More jobs would flee to other nations that have yet to strangle their industrial base with such unrealistic legislation. More smelly socks below. (1 comment, 1194 words in story) Full Story
