There! That should put to bed all the revisionist Reagan centrist crap habitually written on here. It never sold with me anyway. By Kevin Rex Heine, Section Multimedia
From January, 1966: Ronald Reagan announces his candidacy for Governor of California. The title of the speech is, appropriately, "A Need For Action!"

Back in July of this year, when 18-term U. S. Representative Dale Kildee (D-Flint) announced that he would not seek a 19th term, the predictable herd of jackasses started jockeying for position in whatever's going to pass for a Democrat Primary in Michigan's 5th Congressional District. And with the John Kupiec (Kildee's 2010 challenger) not sure if he's going to run again, and Rick Wilson (Kupiec's 2010 primary challenger) currently mulling over a potential U. S. Senate run, we're sort of left wondering what sacrificial lamb the MIGOP might find to show up on the 2012 ballot for this seat.
And that, ladies and gents, is where we go below the fold.

How many times have we heard this from defenders of Barack Obama as it relates to the horrible economic climate we live in these days?
'You cannot blame him for everything.' Dozens of times? Hundreds? It is an excuse used by this administration in its own defense as well as by progressive media pundits who acquired all they know about journalistic objectiveness in a beer tent outside an NEA rally. Certainly the basic tenet of the comment is true...Barack Obama did not create every single situation that led us too far down this road to economic ruin. And yet, such defense of Obama is rarely evenly applied by the literati to George W. Bush who took office in charge of a largely dismantled intelligence community just nine months before a bloodthirsty collection of Mohammedan adherents decided the best way to serve their God was to kill a few thousand Americans in New York City, Washington DC., and an infamous Pennsylvania field. In fact we fiscal conservatives were alarmed by Bush's inability to locate his veto pen until about year seven of his administration, and we felt horribly betrayed by the "compassionate conservative" after we found out that his brand of conservativism and compassion amounted to a perpetual commitment to growth in government. No Child Left Behind and the prescription drug benefit are two far reaching intrusionist examples that expose Bush for the big spending Republican that he was. But this post is not about Bush at all (he isn't still President, is he?) but rather about a barely wavering media and voting constituency of Barack Obama (as if they were two different things) who refuse to apply an equal standard to this President Messiah and his evil predecessor. So, while Barack Obama cannot be directly blamed for everything that is leading us to ruin, we have to point out three things to those receiving their political education from National Socialist Radio. No politician that I am aware, has elicited the kind of emotional fondness from both sides of the political spectrum as Ronald Reagan. Often, the praise exhibited by those on the left is that which describes him as a President who got along and compromised with Democrats. And often the praise from the right is that which recognizes his stalwart conservatism.
Many of us have seen the speech in which the gipper talks of principled leadership:
I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, "We must broaden the base of our party" - when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents. His impatience not unlike our own which can be brought about by those Republicans who sway from their convictions, who are well wishing, and cannot find the ability to stand solidly during tests of principle. As a gift, I present a freshly located YAF address by one of the greatest Americans ever, Ronald Wilson Reagan.
There are at least a dozen relevant lessons in this video alone. Lessons that Michiganders, Democrats, Republicans, Moderates, and history lovers all can use. In fact Pay attention BIG TENT FOLKS.. He has something for you too. (2 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Today is what would be Ronald Reagan's 99th birthday.
I am not entirely sure if there has ever been a person in the last century who was as real as the "actor president." Certainly, the very family values, coupled with family troubles, love of god and country, and most notably, enduring love for his wife Nancy. His loyalty second to none. In my estimation, Reagan was the last president we have had that truly believed in liberty, and how the economic slavery that government imposes on its people limits that liberty. He was the first president who advised against a socialized health scheme, recognizing the danger of giving so much of what should be individual choice to bureaucrats and politicians. He is as relevant today as when he spoke on such things when he was alive. He may be gone now, but his lessons are not. Happy Birthday Ronald Wilson Reagan.
