  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

To both Republicans and Democrats who have taken a step to protect freedom of conscience today.

Praise when something is done right is appropriate.

Employers will no longer be forced to provide 'abortion coverage' in their insurance policies.

"The Republican-controlled Legislature on Wednesday approved a voter-initiated law that would prohibit basic health insurance plans from covering abortions and avoid a veto by Gov. Rick Snyder.

The Senate voted 27-11 and the House passed the legislation 62-47 mostly along party lines in favor of Right to Life of Michigan's proposal to require women to purchase additional insurance for abortions."

Its a shame that such a common sense effort had to done through citizen initiative because of a Governor who has no respect for tax payer freedom of conscience.

I truly hope that Michigan Right To Life remembers how unnecessarily hard they had to work to get this done.

    One Term Nerd.

To paraphrase Mitt Romney, "Corporations are pandering Liberals, my friend."

AYFKM?  Witness ^ my last Starbucks coffee - ever.  Yannow, I've always had a complete disdain for Jews like Howard Schultz who have less than total support for our Right to keep and bear arms.  It is based in good reason.  As they say, all politics is local.  Not to mention how quickly history goes ignored by the Schultz's, Bloomberg's, and Feinstein's in this nation.  Unscrupulous bastards.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Flint Butchery Closes

Among the endless negative news stories of corruption and government out of control, is a ray of light in Flint.

The Feminine Health Care Clinic in Flint seems to be out of business for now according to MLIVE

"A Flint abortion clinic that made national news after a Fenton Township woman claimed that she was held down by a doctor and forced to have an abortion at the facility has closed.

    ...

Appliances and furniture can still be seen inside the brick and metal building. A glass door to the facility is shattered and the metal-bar door guarding an entrance has been forced open. "

Which likely means squatters have already moved in for the cool summer nights.

    Bully for them.

A far better use .. unless the state wants to take it over and lease as a film studio for the next series of horror flicks.

    The Wild Bill Conley Show

Yesterday a Judge killed a lot of babies.

U.S. District Judge William M. Conley in what has become a more commonly performed feat of judicial activism, hit the pause button on a law that would have required abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges:

Without Conley's action, one clinic would have had to cancel 30 abortions or related appointments, with additional cancellations also needed at the other two clinics, attorneys for the plaintiffs said Monday.
    Bang.

And then he blew the smoke off the tip of his pen.

    Yet I was wrong?

    No Not really

U.S. District Judge William Conley granted the order following a hearing in a lawsuit filed Friday by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and Affiliated Medical Services.
    By design.

AUL Fight Continues with 14th Brief

While we have our own fights in opposition of Obamacare and the federal government intrusion and overreach, there are others who are fighting it on different fronts.

Americans United for Life is defending First Amendment Freedom of Conscience rights in an another amicus curiae brief filed in response to Obamacare's mandates. In its 14th brief defending conscience rights in light of Obamacare's mandates, AUL argues in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals that the Obama Administration's "HHS Mandate" violates the First Amendment freedom of conscience by forcing employers to provide insurance coverage for life-ending drugs and devices--without regard to the employers' freedom of conscience or their religious beliefs.

Our insurance plan has this mandatory provision and expense.  Strangely, it is in-your-face in bold letters as well on the policy information. (perhaps as a service from our insurer - to rile us up?)

AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest says:

"Forcing Americans who do not support an abortion-oriented political agenda to pay for and comply with the HHS Mandate is anti-American.  AUL has outlined and advocated for life-affirming healthcare throughout this entire process. Real healthcare respects life, rather than punishing citizens who refuse to comply with an abortion-oriented agenda."
    Indeed.

AUL's brief was filed in Eden Foods, Inc. v. Sebelius, a case filed by Eden Foods, the oldest natural and organic food company in North America, and Michael Potter, the founder and sole shareholder of the company.  Motivated by his faith, Potter has refrained from paying for surgical abortions, contraception and life-ending drugs and devices in the company's health insurance coverage.  Eden Foods filed a lawsuit to protect its conscience rights when the HHS mandates were issued.

In March of this year, a federal judge in Michigan denied a preliminary injunction to Eden Foods and Mr. Potter, a decision that forced them to comply with the unconstitutional HHS Mandate.  They appealed to the Sixth Circuit.

    CBS Boston

An armed robber held up a teacher at gunpoint inside a small arts school in a Jamaica Plain neighborhood Wednesday night. The incident, along with a second robbery in the area Thursday night has police stepping up patrols in the area near Eliot Street, an area considered a walking neighborhood near Monument Square.

On Wednesday night, a suspect described as a black man in his 20's, about 5-feet-8 inches to 6-feet-1 inches tall, medium build and wearing a hoodie made his way to the second floor of the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts.

Executive Director Abigail Norman says he showed a weapon and demanded the teacher's wallet and cellphone.

"He (the teacher) had a lot of poise, lived in the city his whole life, and knew to give the stuff away," she said.

Sheriff Ken Campbell of Boone County, Indiana, defending Second Amendments Rights for his citizens to be best equipped to protect themselves, and their family from criminals.

I won't be holding my breath for Oakland County's most visible failed politician Mike Bouchard, to stand up like this guy did.  Especially, not since Sheriff Bouchard was the only one to have his Undersheriff testify against SB 59.

    Folks, elections matter.
