There really is no end to Lansing goonion payola, and crony capitalism that goes on in Michigan. via detroitnews.com
Detroit - The Westin Book Cadillac avoided defaulting on a $15 million loan this month after a city pension fund intervened, raising questions about the health of a landmark hotel and symbol of the city's economic redevelopment. Yup. Just like Ferchill Group boasts on its own website.
"The high cost of renovating The Book-Cadillac Hotel required creative financing involving the city, county and state, along with tax credits and other sources that previous developers couldn't handle. The Ferchill Group brought to the table financing tools that Detroit had never used. With the Ferchill team on board, we are confident that we will finally see this project become a reality." Updated memo to Mayor Dave Bing, and the folks in Detroit... blow it out your a$$, ya mooching parasites. (3 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News

A young woman who won $1m on a state lottery has sparked outrage after she admitted to still claiming benefits. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." ~ John Adams (5 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Detroit Is Dead.
Detroit, Michigan, The "motor city", jewel of the mid-west, manufacturing magnet, and dominator of automotive excellence for multiple decades passed of cancer during the night. She was 310 years old. Born in 1701 as a fur trading post, Detroit's history had been vibrant and always interesting. In the Mid 1700s, Detroit's affair with the British might have been long term but for General Washington bringing her back home in 1796. In 1805, she became scarred horribly by a fire, yet still had the tenacity to flourish, and the allure to bring more settlers and become incorporated as a city in 1815. As Michigan adopted its first constitution in 1835, Detroit was honored with the designation as the capitol. A couple of years later, the state was admitted to the union. In 1847, Detroit lost her capitol seat to her daughter Lansing, but remained and served with honor against aggressions emanating from the Brits in Windsor. Obituary continued below. Y'all remember the parasitic Leroy Fick, right?
Well, the perpetual lying, drug addicted, lottery millionaire Leroy and his 31-year-old "retired professional gambler" car thief son Jeffery, are back in the news. That million won't last long and there will be two back on the dole. Yannow, within reason, "the poor" are poor due to their own choices in life. Be it living like shiftless bums like the Fick's or having children they can't afford. The rest of us? We just get the force of government to make us pay for their choices. By KG One, Section News
(Promoted by Nick... GREAT user blog! Well done, KG.)
Have you ever stayed up at night, couldn't fall asleep, even after watching re-runs of House/Senate Proceedings on C-Span arguing the minutiae details regarding their latest unconstitutional omnibus-{fill-in-cool-sounding-name-to-generate-publicity-in-the-next-24-hour-media-cycle}, and eventually after going through the dial for the gazillionth time just stopped on a channel where they had two (or more) people just having at it? You really don't know the players involved. Shark-Boy and Curry-Man against anybody. OBD v. Awesome Kong. Sting v. anyone. Randy Orton v. the latest person he attacked from behind to gain the win. You really don't care you wins, you just like to watch two people you really don't care about just wailing on each other. Well, that's what'll happen in the 12 District in 2010. More information when we come back from the break. (2 comments, 403 words in story) Full Story
