My conservatism has a home. It is in the Republican party.
I deal with those on both sides of the aisle daily, but relate better to those in the Republican party for a number of reasons. Some of them are below, but the list is hardly complete. Republican Principles as presented on the MIGOP website.

And the cracks are widening.
More will start falling in to the opening. The Michigan Republican party elite continue to demonstrate a lack of conscience and common sense. Michigan GOP Chair Bobby Schostak was given a great deal of rescue line by grass roots guy Jack Hoogendyk yesterday, and instead of pulling himself out of the quicksand, he wrapped the line around his .. well, it just goes along with the "give a man enough rope" saying. What a foolish thing to do. Prior to Schostak pretending like the Republican grassroots give a damn about him or his supposed integrity, there WAS a solution to all of this that was not only available, but considered. The fate of the Michigan Republican party is one of interest to me. A suggestion made to one of the 4 who voted for the CHANGE in the rules after the fact was not rejected outright. Just before the 2011 MIGOP State Convention, Troy Rolling, who was Bobby Schostak's challenger for MIGOP State Chair (and who was running without a Co-Chair candidate) withdrew his name from consideration, and his withdrawal letter was presented at the district caucuses on Friday night. This left now-Chairman Schostak running unopposed. After he and his co-chair Sharon Wise were unanimously approved by the General Session on Saturday, and a few speeches (Ron Weiser actually referenced my interview with him during his address), the convention got down to the business of nominating, supporting, and electing the MIGOP vice-chairs for the 2011 - 2012 term. Those results, and some other observations, are below the fold.

Thursday evening I sat down with Linda Lee Tarver, one of the candidates for MIGOP Ethnic Vice-Chair.

Okay, before I get started, let me point out that the Delegate Packet that was supposed to go out to every single voting delegate and alternate to the 2011 MIGOP State Convention can be found by following this link. (It's a downloadable PDF.) I say "supposed to go out" because, once again, someone seems to be screwing around with the credentialing process. More correctly, there seems to be some delegates and alternates who aren't getting their convention information in a timely manner, if indeed at all.
But surveys, of course, seem to be going out to everyone (whether by e-mail or by phone) . . . and that's where we go below the fold.
