They already fulfill a centuries old prophesy that politicians eventually would be not born, but would instead be excreted.  Indeed, of all the dumb things Democrats could do with US Senate rules, this one takes the cake.

It's called the nuclear option for a reason. Democrats will regret this decision when Republicans take over the Senate in 2014 and win the Presidency in 2016. It was only a few short years ago that the GOP held the Congress and White House. The RNC as a great research piece on what top Democrats said then....

Tyranny, broadly defined, is the use of power to dehumanize the individual and delegitimize his nature.  Political utopianism is tyranny disguised as a desirable, workable, and even paradisiacal governing ideology.

Individual sovereignty is under attack.

Not the wacko, every-man-is-a-sovereign-the-United-States-is-a-corporation kind of sovereignty, but the notion that, as individuals, we have worth and dignity that deserve protection.

This attack exists in every corner of our society and has found its way into our language.  Liberal politicians talk about the "cost" of a tax cut and ask conservatives, "How are you going to pay for that tax cut?"  They thus view tax cuts as expenditures, but expenditures of what?  Of the money to which they deem the government entitled.  

A tax cut "spends" nothing.  It is an acknowledgment that the money being taxed belongs in the first instance to the earner, not the government.  Most Americans would willingly pay taxes to support legitimate government functions, but we resist ferociously the notion that our incomes belong to the government.

Folks, those are the words of Michigan Legislative Black Caucus Chair, State Representative Fred Durhal Jr. (D-6).   Full quote.

Rep. Durhal, why "mess" with Detroit?  C'mon!  Rep. Durhal, your race card is showing...

DETROIT (AP) -- For over a month, Detroit has been reeling from new census numbers that showed the city lost more population in the last 10 years than anyone realized -- 230,000 or about 25 percent. City officials are trying to get the estimate increased, arguing that thousands of residents went uncounted.

More troubling is the outlook for the city's next 10 years. Rather than a rebound, which community leaders are publicly talking up, demographers are projecting losses of another 100,000 to 200,000 people, leaving the city somewhere between Tucson, Ariz., and Memphis in size:- 500,000-plus, only without much of a middle class.

Nope.  It couldn't be the failed, singular Democratic Party rule in Detroit since Mayor Jerome Cavanagh that's responsible for finally driving another 25% of the people out in 2010.  Nothing to see here, folks.

If you are from Michigan, have a desire to meet a lot of new people and serve your country, NOW is the time.  A few hard workers with soul are needed in the following districts ... uh  well ALL of the following districts except Congressional District #3 which is occupied by Justin Amash:

"The Budget Control Act trades $21 billion in cuts next year for a debt ceiling increase of $2.1 trillion. That's one penny in cuts for each dollar of new debt. The bill does not seriously address the drivers of the federal government's fiscal crisis. It does not improve entitlement programs.

"It does not include a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. I cannot in good conscience vote for so little reform when so much is at stake.

Again, the Michigan Republican delegation sans one, failed to perform its duty on the most important vote of their lifetimes.  They missed an opportunity to stand for a permanence of fiscal prudence.

As for those Democrats who voted no, they wanted even more from Boehner.  However, this president will take whatever rope he has been given and run with it.

Cereal Box Christmas - We packaged up socks (I know.. this is an old trick) Then we also packed up a 6 pack of the good toilet paper, and a few boxes of cereal the kids always go for.  Under the tree it looked like any other Christmas, and carefully saving the best for last we made it through without TOO much disappointment.  Also, 9 and 10 year olds can in fact have a great sense of humor as well.  My daughter, I believe still has saved somewhere  the 6pack of white Charmin;  She calls it "Mr. Whitey."  God love her. (BTW we actually turned this into a tradition)

I know I am.  There's a feeling of utter helplessness.  Despite polling data showing two-thirds of Americans against ObamaCare, Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin happily vote to strip us of our liberties and freedoms, to worsen the quality of our health care, and to bankrupt our nation with a brand new entitlement we simply cannot afford and do not want.

We do have an option, however, and it's one that scares the living daylights out of any elected politician - RECALL.

Surely there are readers of this blog that are well-versed in the procedures, rules, and red tape involved.

If we really want to send a message that Stabenow and Levin work for us (and not the other way around), we need to get organized and launch our recall against them now.
