"It's a ltttle too little." Unlike Pat Benetar, I still have something to say. So who is not-so subtle reminder for? It shouldn't be very surprising when you read below the fold.

I just finished watching John Stossel's "War on the Little Guy" I DVR'd from last night. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend doing so.
Did you know that magicians "needed" to be licensed? Or, that the government can take your property under the guise of protecting a frog that hasn't been seen in your state for decades? The agency that took the property even said so itself. I'll forewarn you, the spokesman/lawyer from the agency defending that practice is more annoying than Sheldon on Season One's "Big Bang Theory". I recommend removing any large and heavy objects from within your reach when watching that segment. Or, that the biggest proponents of new government regulations are existing businesses who use it as a tool to crush competition and free enterprise here in America? No, he didn't have any specific examples from here Michigan. Although given the actions of late by "conservative" republicans in Lansing, he just as easily could have. Borrowing a page from Pres. B.O.'s playbook, "Do as I say and not as I do", is becoming their M.O. as well.

It really didn't surprise anyone watching the first-hand effects of democrat's "leadership" skills in action (a.k.a. Full-scale Cloward & Piven field test) in what was once known as Detroit.
In a very anticipated decision in Federal Court downtown this morning, Judge Steven Rhodes ruled that Detroit CAN file for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy. However, things aren't as cut and dried as they seem on the surface. And just what might those things be?

Most people here are well aware of the fact that the City of Detroit has filed for bankruptcy. Most people are also aware of the fact that Lansing has assigned an Emergency Manager to financially clean house.
Long-time readers are aware that this inevitable outcome was as plain as day to most local observers like myself, and borrowing a page from the President, want to make this as process as painful as possible to the principles involved, so that the actions which have caused it are never repeated again. Ever! Yes, the EM appointed by Gov. Snyder has brought some baggage with him. Yes, he has made a few enemies along the way. Yes, even the Governor himself has drawn himself into the fray by how the EM is compensated and most importantly by whom. But in his defense, he has made some tough decisions which needed to me made. Staffing is being addressed. Benefits are being brought to a manageable level, given the resources available to the Detroit. Assets are being looked at. And when appropriate, are being used to pay off the debts incurred by the city due to it habitual fiscal ineptitude. The latter isn't really making any new friends with those in charge of overseeing Detroit's Art Museum, a collection wholly owned by the City of Detroit. Yes, I'm talking about the DIA. Long-time readers may also recall how the DIA managed to successfully con the Tri-County Region into believing that the DIA was in the poor house and ram through a regional art tax to fund their little operation. With their meal ticket now in jeopardy because two of those counties aren't keen on taxpayer money going to bailout Detroit, a fact they were repeatedly warned about when the respective county boards placed this tax on the ballot, the DIA Board is looking at new ways to pull their collective fat out of the fire. You're going to love what scheme they have come up with this time.

Despite the overwhelming lack of support from Michigan Motorists, Michigan Legislators (unless your name happens to be either Wayne Schmidt or Roger Kahn), and anyone else not associated with MITA, the word on the street is that just like the Energizer Bunny, Gov. Snyder is still going and going at it behind the scenes trying to get another one of his tax hikes approved.
This is coming from a man who loves to make local units of government jump through hoops to get money from the state. He'll require graphs, charts, metrics, notarized forms signed in triplicate and your mother's maiden name before even considering appropriating any money. Unfortunately, he still won't hold himself to the very same standard that he requires of others. Why is that?

Where do I begin on this one?
Republicans on the state and federal level have always had this bi-polar, if not downright neurotic attitude towards adhering to what they claim publically to believe in. They tell us to our face that they support people keeping more of that they have earned, yet when given the chance to prove it, they steal from us what we have worked so hard to earn for because of... ...well, I'm not sure? Just last week in Washington, we've have "conservative" republicans flat-out ignore any spending cuts whatsoever and instead just raise our taxes to address the self inflicted "fiscal cliff". Not even two days later, republicans pass a pork-laden "aid" package. On the plus side those Alaskan Fisheries will now be able to rebuild from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Who can forget last year in Michigan the income tax hike no one wanted (but the governor and the leadership in the legislature made damn sure would be approved)? Or when Lansing decided that it was best to steal from seniors pensions. Oh, the good times republicans reading this post are musing to themselves. Well, like Al Jolson used to say, "You ain't heard nothing yet!" What until you read about the latest republican scam to shake down hard working Michigan Taxpayers.

Don't you just hate it when the government tells you what health care services you can provide?
More specifically, where you can provide them and to whom you can provide them to? This isn't America's dystopian future under Obamacare. At least not yet, anyway. This is something a little more below the radar and closer to home. {Details under the fold}
