Troy Councilman Dane Slater was officially appointed mayor Monday night until November 2013 amid controversy over whether the city must hold an election to name a new mayor. This is the final product that Lansing, and Party Nerdpublicans have created. When it comes to the central planning schemes using Federal Debt dollars being placed under deficit spending scrutiny locally, the establishment clause of Two Wings Same Bird Party politics will slay those who are not in their exact likeness. We watched the MI-GOP Star Chamber attempt to do this to Kerry Bentivolio, and they have had their "compassionate conservative" Operation Hummingbird way with Mayor Janice Daniels. The Republicrats quietus will wear the face of Mitt Romney, and Rick Snyder, for eternity. By haulerforcongress, Section News
Gary Peters claims that he saved the auto industry in Michigan, however the real story has a very different ending. The truth is that Gary Peters is proud of making loan guarantees through the bill he authored titled the Advanced Vehicle Technology Act.
Where did some of that loan money go? To create manufacturing jobs. Overseas. In Finland. (3 comments, 321 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Ya, that's a headline you won't be reading in the news, nor ever overhear the GoverNerd discussing in Lansing. But, it accurately is fact that Magna, founded by a narcissistic liberal Canadian billionaire (Think their version of a poor man's Donald Trump who ran for Prime Minister with similar disastrous results) had their Washington lobbyist for things such as expanding union labor Card Check legislation, Corporate Tax Credits and Loopholes lining Magna Canuck pockets with U.S. taxpayer money through Chevy Volt like subsidies, just declare economic war on an American city.
Frank W. Ervin III, manager of government affairs for Magna International Inc., made the comment in an email Tuesday to the president of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, Michele Hodges. In the private message to Hodges, Ervin called the city's leaders "narrow-minded when it comes to the future of Troy and the future of Southeastern Michigan" for rejecting $8.4 million in federal aid. Can you get over the set on this guy? Make no mistake about it, Frank Ervin is the Van Jones of the Magna Internationals' wealth redistribution GreenTard movement. It becomes difficult to ignore that Canadian Magna, which surprise surprise, also owns BluWav, really hasn't left any U.S. taxpayer subsidy unturned. TEA folk around the state might want to sharpen up and take note of their surroundings. They've been way too soft on letting such things happening right under their noses go undetected, and let go on without objection. Oh, and the GoverNerd? "Thou shalt not cut my constituents cash."
Ever the panderer for votes from the perpetual leeches of society, Gary Peters, demonstrates the truest progressive form of using his core constituency as a reason to advance politically. One wonders why Peters, a US Representative would weigh in on the governor's decision to sign welfare reform legislation saving the state hundreds of millions. I suppose he could be genuinely concerned about those who simply cannot provide for themselves because no one will hire at the inflated minimum wages those who have ZERO job skills. I guess that could be the reason. According to M-Live, he says: "Governor Snyder's decision to cut public assistance to families during this recession rather than helping them is misguided and ultimately will force families facing tough economic conditions into homelessness," Yeah, these people collecting it were perma-recipients. In Fact, some might have viewed those temporary support measures as 'entitlements'. I've been around long enough to see it in place, and abused more often than not. But while watching this hand unfold, do not forget the other. Peters first and foremost, is a man dedicated to himself, and his position of political relevance. This is about Gary, Gary Peters, and Congressman Gary Peter's future. Michigan losing congressional seats, and the perceived likelihood that in 2014, the current governor will have satisfied his bucket list wish, may say more than the current statements of this progressive lefty. Its an act. (6 comments) Comments >> By Conservative First, Section News
The state legislature has passed the Republican plan for redistricting Michigan congressional districts. The plan has been analyzed at several other sites, as congressional plans attract more attention than legislative ones.

Now that Michigan's census figures have been released, the process of redistricting can begin. With Republicans controlling the process this decade, they are expected to draw maps favorable to their interests. This article considers what such a congressional district map might look like. Federal law mandates that congressional districts must have population as equal as possible. Michigan will drop from 15 to 14 districts, each of which must have 705,974 or 705975 people. Republicans currently have a 9-6 majority in the congressional delegation. The Voting Rights Act, as interpreted by the courts, requires that black and Hispanic majority districts be drawn when reasonably possible. In Michigan, there must be two black-majority districts in the Detroit area. State standards require that districts be contiguous by land with no cut-points. It also requires that there not be unreasonably many breaks of counties and cities/townships. However, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled in the case LaRoux v. Secretary of State (2001) that these standards cannot bind future legislatures, as any new redistricting plan passed into law would supersede the old law. Drawing a map favorable to your party requires two basic things. (17 comments, 1383 words in story) Full Story By steve, Section News

I know this seems odd coming from a Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalist but there is a method to my madness.
The United States is broke. To climb out of debt, whatever the actual figure is, would be almost impossible. It would require a 180 degree shift in the way at least 20% of Americans think. It would mean saying goodbye to the welfare state, the warfare state and the nanny state. It would require embracing personal responsibility, self-ownership, and private property. As much as a I hope for a national epiphany, I'm not holding my breath. (9 comments, 392 words in story) Full Story
