    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

The Michigan Senate approved a five-bill package Tuesday establishing a regional transit authority for Metro Detroit and allowing public transportation projects to be funded with a voter-approved registration fee on car owners.

The bills, sought by Gov. Rick Snyder, are seen as crucial to funding a regional transit authority for Metro Detroit and empowering the authority to take over management of the region's major bus systems and create dedicated high-speed bus lanes on the area's busiest corridors.
    ....

Senate Bill 911 would allow the transit authority to seek voter approval in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties for a special motor vehicle registration fee to fund the authority's transportation projects. Under the bill, voters could be asked to approve a registration fee not to exceed $1.20 for every $1,000 of a vehicle's listing price.

The recently approved DIA Tax had to be the lame-duck trial run for the convicted felon's SB 911 stink-bomb.

Thank your Lansing Nerdpublicans who have figured out another accountability loophole.  To levy taxes on the people: let the moocher herd vote.  To silence the people from their voice: limit access to constitutional amendments.

Troy Councilman Dane Slater was officially appointed mayor Monday night until November 2013 amid controversy over whether the city must hold an election to name a new mayor.

The selection followed failed attempts earlier Monday by two city residents to file to run for a mayoral election. Monday was the deadline to file.

"I'm not ready to support any candidate as interim mayor until we get a resolution from the state," Councilman Doug Tietz said, referring to the controversy with the state over how the city must choose a mayor after the recall of Mayor Janice Daniels. He and Councilman Wade Fleming opposed Slater's appointment Monday.

The state's elections director told the city in a letter Nov. 16 that it must hold a special election Feb. 26, and not wait until 2013 to fill the mayor's position.

This is the final product that Lansing, and Party Nerdpublicans have created.  When it comes to the central planning schemes using Federal Debt dollars being placed under deficit spending scrutiny locally, the establishment clause of Two Wings Same Bird Party politics will slay those who are not in their exact likeness.  We watched the MI-GOP Star Chamber attempt to do this to Kerry Bentivolio, and they have had their "compassionate conservative" Operation Hummingbird way with Mayor Janice Daniels.

The Republicrats quietus will wear the face of Mitt Romney, and Rick Snyder, for eternity.

So, who do they interview about "divisive groups"?  None other than rabble-rouser, Linda Kajma.

Linda Kajma stood on a chair with a beer in her hand, exultant in Daniels' apparent ouster.

"I've lived in the city for 38 years. Don't mess with my city," she said. Speaking figuratively to Daniels, she added: "You can put on your red hat and get on the next train out of Troy."

Yeaaaah.  Nothing like having a Romney supporter aiding the misfit Lefty Big Spenders.  Put on your ushanka, Linda, and stay in Troy.

The City of Troy and state election officials have different ideas of when and how to fill the seat of former Mayor Janice Daniels.

After Daniels' Nov. 6 recall, the City Council appointed Mayor Pro-Tem Dean Slater to fill her seat until the next scheduled election in November 2013. But state election officials challenged the length of the appointment, saying state law required a special election be held to fill the seat.

The special election would be in February and all candidates wanting to file candidacy forms have until Monday to do so.

    ....

"We just want to abide by the law, whatever it is," he [Councilman Fleming] said. "We want to do the right thing, but it's not enough notice to vet people, or to even get their applications in. It would be very difficult to comply."

A political friend wrote to me on the rail issue and Mayor Daniels stand against using those federal dollars.  Quoting the New York Times article, he asked:
"Is there more to this strategy? Or is our best hope for change based on the martyrdom of political kamikazes?

My reply as all too often, was a curt
"Won't matter in a couple years anyhow".

    That was Christmas morning.

Looking back at the question again, I decided it warranted a better reply.  First of all, the sender is a very good conservative ally, and secondly, is likely to ascend to higher office in the foreseeable future.

I felt he needed a better explanation.

Canadian Magna Allows Washington Lobbyist Call For Boycotting The City Of Troy

Ya, that's a headline you won't be reading in the news, nor ever overhear the GoverNerd discussing in Lansing.  But, it accurately is fact that Magna, founded by a narcissistic liberal Canadian billionaire (Think their version of a poor man's Donald Trump who ran for Prime Minister with similar disastrous results) had their Washington lobbyist for things such as expanding union labor Card Check legislation, Corporate Tax Credits and Loopholes lining Magna Canuck pockets with U.S. taxpayer money through Chevy Volt like subsidies, just declare economic war on an American city.

Frank W. Ervin III, manager of government affairs for Magna International Inc., made the comment in an email Tuesday to the president of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, Michele Hodges. In the private message to Hodges, Ervin called the city's leaders "narrow-minded when it comes to the future of Troy and the future of Southeastern Michigan" for rejecting $8.4 million in federal aid.

In the email, Ervin thanked the chamber president for her efforts to win approval for the transit center and said he plans to draft a memo to all Magna group presidents and corporate executives "strongly recommending" that the automotive supplier "no longer consider the City of Troy for future site considerations, expansions or new job creation."

Can you get over the set on this guy?  Make no mistake about it, Frank Ervin is the Van Jones of the Magna Internationals' wealth redistribution GreenTard movement.  It becomes difficult to ignore that Canadian Magna, which surprise surprise, also owns BluWav, really hasn't left any U.S. taxpayer subsidy unturned.  TEA folk around the state might want to sharpen up and take note of their surroundings.  They've been way too soft on letting such things happening right under their noses go undetected, and let go on without objection.

    Oh, and the GoverNerd?
