Nearly everyone knows SOMEONE who is on the public dole. Whether it is food stamps or corporate thievery, (not covered in this essay) shouldn't the taxpayer have the right to know where his resources are channeled by government? Especially given the "Sobering Data" published in the DHS sanctioned Michigan lottery report in 2012

"Nearly 14 percent of all lottery winners are either welfare recipients themselves or reside in a household with welfare recipients."

After revelations that at least two major lottery winners were STILL collecting assistance, the report was commissioned and legislative action has been sought to address such abuse.  At the same time Democrat legislators like Rashida Tlaib take the typical progressive route and wish to encourage more abuse through inaction. By attempting to assign shame, that might be more appropriately placed on those who beg for assistance and abuse our generosity by gambling with it, to the DHS director Corrigan (God Bless Her) who sees a problem.

"Though DHS found 19 people with lottery winners of more than $100,000, 83 percent of lottery winners on welfare rolls won less than $5,000. Democratic state Rep. Fashida Tlaib accused the agency of being too harsh on people with small lottery winnings.

"I just think Director [Maura] Corrigan is more passionate about kicking people off the system than preventing fraud," Tlaib told the Detroit News.

Corrigan advocated for a law to "intercept" lottery winnings from those on welfare.

NO?  Me either.

It just happens to be the analogy (well ONE of them) that comes to mind with what appears to be Michigan Democrat's pick for the US senate seat that is being vacated by Carl Levin in 2014.  Gary Peters is one of those cats that have been around for too long, with policy desires that stink to high heaven, and will be hauled out for even higher levels of destructive office occupation when they have nothing better to offer.

And they really don't. Have. Any. Better. Oh..Whats that smell?

There is nothing like a made up global crisis to provide for a cronyism scheme that is enforced by government to instill confidence in a free people, hmm?  His vote for the The job killing Waxman-Markey Bill; The "American Clean Energy And Security Act Of 2009" cleared the house 219-212.  Had it passed the senate, it would have mandated changes in the way we live our lives, eventually putting controls on when and HOW we could use energy without paying severe penalties.  In fact, if taken to the extremes, the air you breathe could have actually been taxed under that bill.

Take a deep breath.  There is more.

The effect on industry would have been even more draconian, effectively putting the EPA in charge of operational elements of all industry, adding regulatory expense and killing jobs.  A 20% mandate on renewable energy built in to the bill would have made it nearly impossible for energy producers to keep costs at a level that promotes local (U.S.A.) manufacturing and jobs. More jobs would flee to other nations that have yet to strangle their industrial base with such unrealistic legislation.

Even within the Republican ranks, good conservatives who carry strong convictions, and won't be bullied to become moderate are labeled as 'extreme'. Labeled in ways that are more harsh than what they would call the reversed polarity party of the Democrats; a party THEY SAY that sites like this should be attacking, before challenging Republicans.

At the convention as I was speaking with a 1st district delegate and past chair, I was reminded that we are expected to stay in line until fully vested in all manner of the process. Though she would not acknowledge the suggested verbiage of "waiting our turn", she said nothing that would support anything but a path of subservience to the powers-that-be first. "You cant't just jump in and be chair, Jason!" She exclaimed after losing patience with the successful whip efforts in our district. I wonder where she was in 2010?

I didn't hear her say then; "You can't just jump in and be GOVERNOR!" to the guy who had WON with 64% of Republicans opposing him.

I guess its just about the money.  Cause that makes it OK.

Given the manner in which loyalty is blind, there is an expectation that advantage will always go to an incumbent.  This is NOT a commentary on the people who voted for Schostak, but rather an observation of elections where the incumbent ought not be challenged.  In other words, 48% voting against, is likely not the percentage who feel the party has been run poorly.  The old adage "the devil you know" comes to mind; the outcome being one that has a few extra points built in.

Safe to say that 48% or more want to see things change in the party.

As the incumbent chair continues to serve, it is important he recognizes that those plans for a revitalized party that he borrowed from his opponent in the last two weeks ought to be more than mere lip service.

Maintaining conservative principles, targeting on core family values, and finding conservative commonalities with groups currently held by the Democrat plantations might be a good start.

Congratulations.

Lon Johnson, a guy who still needs a map in order to safely travel through the district he attempted to represent, and who mounted a reasonable campaign against Republican Bruce Rendon in the great white North, has now thrown his hat in the ring. Apparently he enjoys the support of such stalwarts as Michigan Meat Puppet Debbie Stabenow, Carl Levin, and a miscellany of [not-so]secret socialists within their ranks.

Johnson, who had ads challenging "those corporations" in charge, showed old imagery of the trains in his ads ("Trains don't stop here now cause the big corporations running the show" - seriously) that had brought his ancestry to the area at a time that was presumably 'corporation free'.  Playing the social justice card, he did surprisingly well only 5 points away from the Republican in a reasonably conservative district.  Of course spending over $300K (and double opponent Bruce Rendon's $$$) gives one a leg up; and the class warfare irony is complete.

Brewer, arguably one of the most experienced chieftains of team bizarro, has recently been snubbed by the UAW, and in particular Bob King, who recently said "no mas senior Brewer"; threatening the engaged-at-the-hip relationship of labor and the Michigan Dems if Brewer was to remain.

We see little difference in philosophy of either man, or in what they will support.  

The Michigan Democrats will support Fraudsters like Hathaway, Schemes like fake Tea, and Road money redistribution schemes like Snyder's until the end of time.  In a way, it would be interesting to see Brewer hang around a little more, and find out if Bob King is actually serious about withdrawing support from the MiDems; a love affair as old as progressivism itself.  Johnson's wife's fundraising skills, reportedly being responsible for $800 million shekels in the coffers of the Obama campaign however, might tempt even the best buds of the embattled Brewer, who also faces new claims as an accessory to the blown fake tea scheme.

Democrat LAURENCE DEITCH received $2000 from each of the Schostak Brothers in his re-election for regent.

In 2008.  Why?

One thing that has become clear in the last couple of years is that pandering to the other side brings nothing but misery. Seeding the other side with financial resources makes it harder for OUR guys to succeed.  Does it ultimately matter if the chair is a good fundraiser, if our donations go to fight the beast he has fed in the past?

Consider this merely a start of a fact based critique.

But the city's bigger customers likely enjoy more flexible arrangements. Right now, Detroit journalists are specifically documenting gigantic black holes in the city's revenue collection "system," which may have enabled various Ilitch organization entities to decline the privilege of paying the city various fees and taxes.
