From a few years ago.
Every couple years a horrendous act occurs spawning the next round of gun control measures from willing sheep throughout the nation. Dr Suzanne Gratia Hupp explains through her own experience WHY we should not have restrictions on our ability to carry and self defend.
Her 'lesson' was as tough as any others that have been received recently. However she actually learned from it. (1 comment) Comments >> By The Wizard of Laws, Section News

Individual sovereignty is under attack. Not the wacko, every-man-is-a-sovereign-the-United-States-is-a-corporation kind of sovereignty, but the notion that, as individuals, we have worth and dignity that deserve protection. This attack exists in every corner of our society and has found its way into our language. Liberal politicians talk about the "cost" of a tax cut and ask conservatives, "How are you going to pay for that tax cut?" They thus view tax cuts as expenditures, but expenditures of what? Of the money to which they deem the government entitled.
A tax cut "spends" nothing. It is an acknowledgment that the money being taxed belongs in the first instance to the earner, not the government. Most Americans would willingly pay taxes to support legitimate government functions, but we resist ferociously the notion that our incomes belong to the government. Ain't gonna happen. Not on our watch.
We have this one guy, out there fighting the REAL fight in congress. Taking on conventional wisdom, lobbying idiocy, and the looters that abound. Fighting for the well being of our constitution! No one has been doing it as well as Justin Amash. No one has taken the controversial (and correct) positions like Amash has done, while taking the time to explain the reasoning for the votes. Few seem to be looking to the constitution first, then voting in a manner that is consistent and within its rules like Amash. And if anyone thinks the crazy left, and its hand picked tool is going to take away the one guy who actually DOES his job without a fight? They have another think coming. Kids, its time to break out the pop bottles, and trash the piggy bank again. From the Detroit News: " Pestka of Grand Rapids was up 34.9 percent to 33.8 percent for Amash of Cascade Township, according to a live operator poll of 400 likely voters conducted Wednesday and Thursday by Glengariff Group. Inc."Bad, but not terrible unless we let it matter. There are also 29 percent reporting undecided. Which means it is a matter of messaging from now till then. Messaging which can only be done with cash on hand. The Democrats would love to steal this seat from our constitutional conservative, and they are likely buying any ad time they can get their hands on .. right now. Losing Amash in CD3 at this critical juncture would not only be a blow to Michigan, but to conservative Republicans everywhere.
You know what needs to be done. Start by going here. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Tonight, at 6:30pm, Kerry Bentivolio will face his Democratic opponent, Syed Taj, at a candidates' forum in Livonia, hosted by the Clements Circle Civic Association.
This promises to be an exciting event. Both candidates will give short speeches and answer questions. Show up to support Kerry if you can make it. Its likely Taj will be mobilizing his supporters in force for this event. There may be media present, and it is always helpful and encouraging for Kerry to see supporters rooting for him. RSVP for the event on its Facebook page Please come out to support Kerry in Livonia, this Monday at 6:30pm.

Crush that loser Justin! By JGillman, Section News
Pure torture. And no, its not the Romney/Obama debate of which I speak.
Last night was a busy one in the Grand Traverse area. Along with anticipation for the presidential debate scheduled to start at 9pm, there was a popular hearing on a $25 septic tank assessment scheduled for 6pm, and a Benishek/McDowell debate scheduled for 7pm at the local library. The assessment hearing had upwards of 600 people show up unexpectedly, (out of those 25,000 septic tank owners) resulting in cancellation of the hearing, and subsequent meetings today and tomorrow. (someday I may relate that tale) The Benishek/McDowall event was standing room only. Dan Benishek gets it. There is no question, DR. Dan understands the mechanics of how jobs are created better than his opponent. He understands as well as anyone why the 'Affordable Healthcare Act' is the ruin of good medicine. However, it wasn't until the second to last question of the debate that he was clearly understood. Debating skills were not at all present at this affair. Benishek's "I am not a politician", being the theme of his campaign, and partially the theme of last nights event? No kidding. More below the fold. And Nancy, you want a fight? You may have it.
There is no way your campaign will get an ounce of help from real conservatives before or after the primary, if you pursue the unnecessary path of a write-in campaign. Especially when there is a candidate on the ballot who not only meets the standards of being a Republican, but also has followed the rules, played the game appropriately, and was willing to live with the results of the contest prior to the fraud perpetrated by McCotter's bumbling help. It frankly demonstrates WHY its a good idea to have a primary EVERY time. At least we HAVE someone there. But a write in campaign? Now this is getting into stupid season. First its Rocky, who courted the Tea Party, was backed by the TPX, had OUR support, but showed his true BLUE colors in dissing the ONE guy who played the game right. Never again Rocky. You FIGHT the Tea folks next time. Then its Saul and company, acting all comfy with tea folk until it didn't select one of his hand picked favorites, and he uses the machinery of the MiGOP to steal a delegate when completely unnecessary. We know how THAT landed.
Now Nancy, you want to test your will? You should have at least been there from the start. YOU should have filed when the others did. But you didn't, and you believe that fading fast RINO Patterson? Do you REALLY think you have a chance? Really? (4 comments, 1014 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
No joke. Dick Posthumus' decade old Lt. gov running mate just announced he's going write-in.
Yannow, with all the light that is being shined on the incumbent mentality within the Party establishment, they really are starting to make the AGW zealots and Earth Day kooks look a lot less insane by comparison. This is all the more reason why I'd vote for Kerry Bentivolio. Send Kerry a few jingle$ if you can, folks. The Party is stacking the deck against him. (1 comment) Comments >>
