What is going on with Dr. James Dobson?

Is it just me or did anybody else catch the flip-flop of Dr Dobson on his wanting to back a third party candidate?  In one of my previous blogs both here on RightMichigan and my personal one (http://federalistfred.blogspot.com/), I made mention of an interview Dr. Dobson had with Sean Hannity.  In that interview Sean was very specific when he made mention of a meeting that Dr Dobson had with 50 other evangelical leaders.  In that meeting they had a unanimous vote to start and/ or back a third party candidate should the republican nominee not be one who is both pro-life and pro-family (supports a national marriage amendment).  The interview went on for three sessions, and got into the nit-picky details of how bad that would be for the republicans.  It would hand the election to Hillary Clinton in a landslide.  In all that interview Dr. Dobson only rebuttal of Sean's position was to say, "This is a very tough situation", and "The election is so far away anything can happen". He backed that last comment up with some crazy comparison to Jimmy Carter.

Then on Monday October 15th he was in an interview with Laura Ingraham and total changed his tune.  Laura asked him her first question, but Dr. Dobson did not at first choose to respond to it.  He started off by making a statement.

"I need to make something very clear.  There has been an error repeated by Sean Hanity, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, and by others in the media.  I have NEVER, EVER said that I wanted to start or support a third party.   That would be the wrong thing to do. THEY DO NOT WORK!   I spoke out against it at the meeting in Salt Lake."

Like I said, does anybody else see the total change in Dr. Dobson's position?  Now don't get me wrong I did want Dr. Dobson to change has position but this appears to be a contradiction of his position.   He had plenty of opportunity to say what he said to Laura, to Sean and did not.  He never once gave any indication to Sean that his intention was any different then the one Sean was presenting.  Could it be that he is just taking too much heat from even those in his own evangelical ranks, as my blogs have stated.  Maybe he is just trying to save face.  What ever it is, I think we need to keep in eye on the situation.

The worst part of this is to looks like Dr. Dobson's integrity might be in question.  IN MY HEART OF HEARTS I NETHER WANT THAT TO BE TRUE, WISH THAT TO BE TRUE, OR THINK THAT TO BE TRUE!!!  Yet I do want to know why he said one thing to Sean and something totally opposite to Laura.

P.S.  My wife had a thought while washing the dishes "I wonder if he wants to run (for President)".  Hmmmm!

I personally think it is sad that Dr. Dobson's endorsement is even so important.  can't the people of that segment of society think for themselves?

As a proud member of that "segment of society" I have to say that I'm more than willing to tell Dr. Dobson to step off when he needs it.

Dr. Dobson....STEP OFF!  (See, there I said it.)

You want sheep...look to your typical Democrat that could get herded into the tightest of pens with only the slightest waft of sweet socialism leading him on.  Big brother makes a great shepherd, if not the best of administrators.
