i found your journey through politics to be interesting.  mine, though a bit shorter, has been similar.  i too took interest in objectivism and the libertarian party (although i never really aligned myself with the party, nor do i ever intend to).  i became interested in these ideas after losing a lot of respect for the republican party.  it turned out that they did not represent what i thought they did, and i was extremely disappointed.  i found myself arguing with republicans , and it felt more like i was debating a democrat.  i feel like libertarianism is the new term for what republicans used to be.  modern republicans or neo-conservatives are now more like liberal democrats.  it's a very disturbing trend.
