FairTax a tax hike or not??? (none / 0) (#11)
by Tom McMillin on Thu May 12, 2011 at 09:32:16 PM EST
What amazes me is that the same people who were so upset when Dems attacked GOP candidates who support FairTax as supporting a tax hike (because the sales tax goes up) are now saying this restoration of treating TAX DEFERRED pension income as...well, as income, is a tax increase -- when, just like the FairTax, the tax package passed today is a net tax cut - this was $450M tax cut.
IF the FairTax is not a "tax increase", then this package that I proudly voted YES on today was not a tax increase (which is what ATR Grover Norquist says - who's tax pledge I signed).  OR if you are going to say my votes on the tax package was a net tax increase, then you had better be consistent and apologize to the Dems who lied about the FairTax being a tax increase.  One or the other -- just be consistent.  Either call lies, truth or...tell the truth.

And by the way, all the fill in of the $1.4B deficit (due to plugging holes with "stimulus" debt on our kids and grandkids) is with cuts.  All cuts.  And getting rid of Corporate Welfare.  And if we can get rid of or change the Civil Service Commission, via a Constitutional Amendment, then we'll be able to make quicker changes to the 50,000 state employees....we're squeezing a ton out of gov't...and this is just four months into the process!
