      Wouldn't it be better to use it for broad based tax reduction?  reduce the 4.35 to 4.25 or less?  why make it about picking winners and losers?  why let a certain group keep getting services without paying for them?

      Is there any specific reason this principle should not also apply to the general public, not just retirees?
      Once you start choosing categories to subsidize with tax policy, what principle prevents favoring minorities, unwed mothers, particular skin colors, etc.? Is there a particular reason why some politically correct popular-group-of-the-day should get tax exemptions?
