  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Betsy DeVos Sets The Wrong Table

Truly a loss to the GOP if Betsy DeVos remains committed to her recent effort of removing Dave Agema from the position of Republican National Committeeman.

There was a reason he won the position in the first place; as someone who would hold TRUE to conservative Republican principles, and strengthen them in the national platform.  While the establishment Republicans are decrying Democrats as "bad," Committeeman Agema was rebuilding the foundation so Republicans could say why.  Real fiscal restraint, real solutions aimed at preserving families and traditions that have made this country great.

And the feeble sensibilities of an offended malcontent within the party continuously stirs up sympathy for the other side's (progressive Dems for those of you who remain unsure) point of view?

"Hey look at me! I am a Republican and I don't like your stand on what I like to do, so you better tolerate my perverse lifestyle or I will forever more divide the party until I get what I want!  You can call it a big tent if you want."
And like the 'Tasmanian Devil' of the cartoon world, shredding the bonds of good conservatives, and instilling doubt upon the conscience of a party that once at least as a promise, stood for decency and honor.

When moral restraint is removed in one way, it certainly follows that the caps are off in others too.

A sin is a sin is a sin, right?

So lets talk more below the fold.

    I wrote about messaging yesterday.

There was no better messenger than this man.  Someone who spoke his convictions without fear of what the "other side" thought, and in the end, captured the hearts of those others, minus only a few who were so hateful, and make up the Democrat party elite today.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Dirty Laundry - Clarification & Context

If anyone wishes to know how even using 'truthful' statements, an agenda through media can be moved forward, it is shown today in Traverse City's paper of record.  I fully expect an upcoming editorial decrying such intolerance by elected officials, and perhaps even further, a call for a countywide ordinance not unlike the Traverse City ordinance recently passed.

    ~ posted here and elsewhere February 13, 2011 ~

Today's Record Eagle contained a 'hit piece' I knew was coming.  Front page news.  And with a bad picture of me.

Titled Commissioner: Pedophilia linked to Homosexuality - Comments made during official business visit, the article relates my calling "homosexuality a perversion" during a visit to the health department orientation.  The visit was in the offices of Fred Keeslar, the health department director.  The visit which had in attendance myself, Fred, and one other employee.  A visit in which a number of things were discussed, including services we provide, the possibility of growth, and some data that demonstrated where we are (as a county) year to year in communicable diseases.

One of those diseases discussed was HIV.

Lets talk about wolves pretending to be sheep..

If Santa Claus dressed himself as Batman would he be Batman?  He may fool some, but his bulbous reality would reveal at the very least he wouldn't very likely LOOK the part.  And unless some of that magic Santa dust can perform some miraculous effect, a fat man doing the dark knight's work might end in disaster.  Besides, apart from a "girth" issue, there would also be the small problem of his entourage, be they smelly little elves, reindeer, or a bunch of little kids (who are smarter than the average bad guy) following him around and KNOW that its really Santa Claus, that would blow the fat man's cover.

Well.. the entourage is REALLY the secret in the sauce for the Truth Squad, a new "service" that suggests it is there to help voters determine who is taking creative license in their political advertising.

Let talk about it..  below the fold.

Republicans led 'out of the wilderness' by Conservative Unity

In responding to an article, "Michigan Republicans must look towards the future to win" by Dennis Lennox, posted 4/22/09, I took the opportunity to opine, sharing my own convictions with my fellow Republicans about the overall subject: Using Conservative Unity to lead the party out of the 'wilderness' that's born of divisive politics, demographic pandering, and (I will add here) a perception that we should somehow be ashamed of our heritage as conservatives.

It was recommended to me that it was worthy of its own post, so here it is as written.  Let us UNITE to win elections. Right and Truth do not 'evolve', rather, handed down from antiquity.

CLARIFICATION:  Please note that any appearance of 'class-warfare' points are intended to be a criticism of some politicians on the Left.  I do not subscribe to class-warfare arguments in the slightest, but I think such arguments the Left makes against their opponents is much more applicable to themselves; it's how they think.
