The language for the recall must contain reason based upon the officer's conduct during his or her current term in office. At 4pm today, there was a recall filed to remove Randy Richardville from his 17th District Senate seat. The submission was from Monroe county resident and former county GOP Chair, Jeff Andring, with the following language:

"On February 29, 2012 Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, (17th District) co-sponsored and later voted "YES" on Senate Bill 0992, allowing real estate developers to avoid personal guarantees on foreclosed commercial loans in Michigan.  Homeowners, losing their homes to foreclosure, are still held liable for such payments. This law was made retroactive to avoid a $2.4 Million dollar personal financial obligation for the brother of the Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party.

Senator Richardville abused his legislative position by introducing "Right to Teach", wasting our tax dollars on a personal, political message, threatening basic collective bargaining rights of teachers.

Senator Richardville introduced SB 410 and SB 411 which would have authorized a new government bridge, funded with our road repair tax dollars. These bills unfairly divert money from badly needed road repairs to build a bridge that a private company is willing to build at no cost or risk to taxpayers. This misallocation of funds can only result in substandard roads, or increased taxes to replace the money diverted for the government bridge.

For these abuses of legislative power, an election should be held to decide if Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville should be removed from office."

Instead of acknowledging that there is trouble within the Michigan Senate, it might appear that the Senate GOP is going to circle the wagons.

Not so worried about that.

Around these parts we certainly acknowledge Michigan Senate majority leader Randy Richardville is a lousy excuse for a Republican.  He obviously has a conflict going on inside the ol oil can with regard to which side of the labor argument to be on.  He is a Republican.  However, and unnaturally, he seems to side with the goons that feast on the poor and unfortunate, that have more than enough problems without the help of a skim scam being protected by self service:

"On Wednesday, March 14, Sen. Dave Hildenbrand, R-Lowell, introduced Senate Bill 1018. The measure mirrors House Bill 4003, which was designed to stop the "skim" and prevent future forced unionizations. Co-sponsoring Hildenbrand's bill are 21 Senate Republicans. Only 20 votes are needed to pass legislation in the Senate.

This should mean there are now 22 GOP Senators leaning toward voting "yes' on HB 4003 and sending it to the Governor. However, they can't vote for the bill if Sen. Richardville refuses to put it up for a vote."

The secretary of state requires candidates to complete their POST-ELECTION CAMPAIGN FINANCE COMPLIANCE STATEMENT before assuming office. the bullet points read:

• This form must be filed by any candidate subject to Michigan's Campaign Finance Act who is elected to a state, county, city, township, village or school office. The form must be filed before the candidate assumes office. Exceptions: an elected candidate whose Candidate Committee did not receive or expend more than $1,000.00 during the election cycle is not required to submit this form. In addition, this form does not have to be filed by an individual elected to a U.S. Senate, U.S. House or precinct delegate position.

• An elected candidate who is required to file a Post-Election Campaign Finance Compliance Statement must submit this form to the filing official designated to receive the elected candidate's campaign finance disclosure filings.

• An elected candidate subject to the Post -Election Campaign Finance Compliance Statement filing requirement who fails to submit this form prior to assuming office is guilty of a misdemeanor.

• If you need information on your current compliance status under the Michigan Campaign Finance Act, contact the Michigan Department of State's Bureau of Elections and/or the appropriate county clerks as necessary.

One might presume that failure to do so would exclude a candidate from assuming their elected position.

According the to BOE, Republican majority leader Randy Richardville filed This (image at right - click to view full sized) as his post election compliance. So naturally one might assume all is done, and properly.

This morning, I received this from the Michigan Freedom To Work Committee:

The MIRS Weekly Report - "Senate Majority Leader Randy RICHARDVILLE (R-Monroe) told reporters Wednesday that he doesn't believe there are enough votes in the GOP caucus for Right to Work (RTW) legislation."  Regarding his personal position on Right to Work, "The Majority Leader said that he would be a "no" vote on RTW."

MIRS also reports, Michigan's unemployment rate this year is projected to be 9.4 percent and won't average below 9 percent until 2014... University of Michigan (U-M) economist George FULTON noted that the jobless rate remains "stubbornly high."  Unemployment was at 12.5 percent in 2010 and fell to 10.5 percent in 2011. "From this I can only gather that Majority Leader Richardville is content with an economy that is staggering at best," said UAW member and MI-Freedom to Work Chairman, Terry Bowman. "Is he satisfied with an unemployment rate of 10%?

"If Richardville is opposed to Right to Work he is in direct opposition to the wishes of 70% of Michigan voters including many in his own district.  As a Monroe native, I know firsthand that there is much support for Right to Work in his district. "

The first counter tallies SEIU dues skimmed since the union and state officials first launched this scheme in 2007. The second shows the amount skimmed since June 9, 2011, when the Michigan House passed and sent to the Senate a bill to ban this and all similar "stealth unionization" efforts.

Fact of the matter is, any substantive reform in labor should not be expected until a vote of no-confidence for the senate majority leader is held, and he is removed from his powerful post.

Evidently some of Sen. Rick Jones (24th District) constituents were not happy with his yes vote or his comment on the Senate floor that I shared with you in the last Newsletter and post HERE "He had to "plug his nose and vote for the bill"
How do I know that? Because I received an angry e-mail from Senator Jones. His e-mail is interesting in that it provides a window into some of the dealing going on under the Capitol Dome

So let's address his assertions, shall we?

First of all "You are spreading lies.  You do not understand why we had to do what we did."

"It's been an amazing conference," said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak. "The enthusiasm from our grassroots and from our elected officials is outstanding, and our attendees experienced it first-hand."

"This conference will pay huge dividends for our state and our country," Schostak said. "We will work with our leaders and our grassroots to continue to reinvent Michigan."

This year's conference incorporated numerous events, including addresses and appearances by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Congressmen Thad McCotter, and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

Besides Snyder, Michigan's Republican leadership on the island included Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, Attorney General Bill Schuette, House Speaker Jase Bolger, Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, and Congressmen Dave Camp, Candice Miller, Dan Benishek, Fred Upton, Tim Walberg, Bill Huizenga, and Justin Amash.

Many elected officials participated in panel discussions focused on making Michigan a job-growth engine.
