We have reported on the mailers sent out and the Michigan Democrat Party taking advantage of the independent candidate Glenn Wilson's position as spoiler in the MI CD1 race. In a somewhat interesting twist.. Independent spoiler candidate Glenn Wilson thanks the Democrats for spending PAC money on his behalf. The Wilson Campaign released this:
"The Glenn Wilson campaign would like to thank the Michigan Democratic Party for sending out the mailer regarding Wilson's stance on irresponsible government Spending." Some things just write themselves.. From the same campaign that has elements giving grief to Dr. Dan Benishek for accepting Republican money (he IS the Republican candidate.. go figure) we find the Wilson campaign eagerly lapping up the spilled milk of the Michigan Donkeys in a last minute attempt to remain relevant. The Democrat attempt to split the vote's cost? Estimated to be about $30,000.00 according to the Wilson Camp. Consider it a gift. But the Irony isn't lost on this writer.. Adopted son of Ronald Reagan, and national radio talk show host, Mike Reagan, made a video endorsing Dan Benishek for Congress.
This is on top of endorsements from Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and Erick Erickson. By JGillman, Section News
I really hate to have to go here..
As many of you might have noticed I have not really made a mention of Glenn Wilson when covering Benishek, McDowell, and the fight to take the CD1 seat back from the lefties. My 'omission' Stemming from the realization that any more attention to the man who might siphon votes from Dan Benishek, might fuel Wilson's efforts, and guarantee the end that still might happen; a McDowell win. Funny, how it's something that I may well have railed about in years past watching debates that did not include 3rd party candidates. What is not funny, is the reality that Glenn Wilson is not Stupid. Nor are many of his followers. Yet they continue onward in a path that leads them to more of what they might claim to oppose. Any gains by team Wilson mean losses for Benishek. They speak to the same issues, and let there be no doubt McDowell, and the lying Michigan Democrats will take advantage of that. A Donkey could well hold the CD1 seat because of Wilson. But speaking to the same folks, and being the same.. have very different meanings.

One of the most disingenuous attempts to "help" citizens in the US has been the health care bill. An insidious power play that was RAMMED DOWN OUR THROATS without regard to effect on business, how it raises health care costs, or how it will deplete our health care systems of professionals was disregarded.
It was merely an attempt at putting one of the most important PRIVATE activities we have.. under government control. It was also a time where one could see the great divide in idealism exhibited by the Leftist Democrats and their counterparts, the Republicans. When the dust settled, only ONE republican, a pitiful RINO, Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao in Louisiana decided voting FOR the progressive takeover "was necessary to keep his job." Te end result of the vote showed clearly.. there are still great differences between the Republicans and the Democrats, and the fanfare from local and state Democrat party folks here in Michigan demonstrated their allegiance to such anti constitutional tripe. One of those Michigan Democrats, while supporting the bill to "make health care affordable, was actually working to make it less affordable DIRECTLY.. The 1st Congressional District campaign is starting to warm up. Though the numbers say the Democrats might eek out a win, there are indicators that say otherwise. One of those is the reduced spending by the Democrat party and low donation numbers to McDowell's campaign.
There are still ads airing by the Michigan Democrat party, but even those were based on buys done earlier. Expect them to NOT increase. Conversely, the Benishek Campaign is in full swing.
Readers might find Benishek's pledge to serve only 3 terms appealing as well. Below the fold are two newly produced ads for Dan Benishek. Spread them around. -- UPDATE: --- 2:12 According to the NRCC numbers: "Michigan's 1st District seat, vacated by retiring Rep. Bart Stupak (D), has also been a target for both parties, as both the NRCC and DCCC have aired ads there. The NRCC survey, conducted by Hill Research Consultants Sept. 19-21, found Republican Dan Benishek leading Democrat Gary McDowell 40% to 24% among 400 likely voters. In this Upper Peninsula district, Obama is viewed unfavorably by 56% in the survey." (1 comment, 232 words in story) Full Story |
