Tag: John Dingell (page 2)By JGillman, Section News
Its been argued that a trend is more important than the ACTUAL polling numbers when looking at political contests. Here in Michigan, a 20 point move in opinion might have dire consequences for the longest serving congressman who once scolded a debate opponent by saying "I knew King George.. You sir are NO King George!"
John Dingell, who was 20 points up as close as a mere month ago now lags opponent Dr. Rob Steele of Ann Arbor by a few points: "Dingell, the House's longest-serving member, is trailing the Ann Arbor cardiologist 39.5 to 43.8 with 11 percent undecided, signaling a statistical tie in a race that was once considered safe territory for Democrats," reports The News. "The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.6 percent." Record scratch insertion unnecessary.. Grab the fainting pillow. Sometimes however, miracles can use a little help. I imagine a little support for the last few weeks would help to keep the trend in the RIGHT direction would help. And maybe just a little prayer. (5 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News

I will let the reader look up the origin of the term, but the meaning is clear. Michigan has been betrayed by these "representatives." Allow me to begin by presenting Michigan's "esteemed" US Senators. First we have the "you can't replace me, cause Michigan will lose all that seniority" Carl (the Marx) Levin. Serving in the US Senate Has been Tough on Carl. His net worth? Carl Levin's net worth was between $1,396,019 and $3,091,000 in 2007, according to Levin's mandated financial disclosure statements. Carl has done well for himself and has graciously accepted any PAC money that comes along to pad his overly abundant war chest. Carl is a "rank and File Democrat, who voted for Bailouts, Health Care, and Carbon initiatives that have cost this state its manufacturing base. Next, we have Debbie (I can feel global warming when I fly) Stabenow, who has the hand of leftist interest so far up her backside, you can see a ring finger when she opens her mouth to speak. Even the cookie monster's puppetry is more subtle. The cookie monster is also smarter. Stabenow's net worth was between $-50,000 and $-15,001 in 2007, according to Stabenow's mandated financial disclosure statements. Nuff said. But hey, I get only two Senators to pick on. Thank you, God. The remainder of Michigan woes owes a great deal to the following Representatives. More below.. (13 comments, 888 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
From The Rob Steele Campaign:
A debate is scheduled for October 20. The scheduled debate will take place at the Monroe Community College's La-Z-Boy Center. It will be run from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The doors open at 5:45pm.
Says DR Steele:
Indeed.. I wonder if Mr Dingell will bother reading any notes before participation in this.. The Rob Steele for Congress campaign has accepted debate requests from the Southern Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce. Outside of public posturing, there has been no official response of acceptance or refusal from the Dingell for Congress campaign. Since the United States House of Representatives has adjourned for the remainder of the campaign there is no longer an excuse for the Dingell campaign to refuse these other debate requests. Dr. Rob Steele has the prescription
(ANN ARBOR, MI) -Congressman John Dingell, (D-Mich.) admitted on Bloomberg TV last night that he doesn't have a clue about how to solve the mess he helped create in his 55 years in Washington. "It's outrageous to see that the longest-serving member of Congress has no clue about how to help the working men and women of Michigan," said Dr. Rob Steele, the 52-year-old cardiologist who is running for the GOP nomination to replace Dingell in November. He has been a physician for 29 years and is a founding member of a 300-employee medical practice based in southeast Michigan. (4 comments, 367 words in story) Full Story By Crippy, Section News
Speaking to Paul W. Smith, representative john dingell (M-M-15) explains that it will take time to control the people.

After all...
We all know cash is king... Or maybe better stated, "FOR Kings.." Contributions to the coffers of political despots often encourages their favors, and the green is the grease of the political wheels. And Dingell, as well as Snyder got plenty of grease to go around. Fact of life.. Bring the king a gift for his pleasure and thou shalt have his dispensation. Snyder loves kings.. In fact he might well fancy himself the "Nerd King" in waiting.. Working his own royal treasury from the peasants, that consummate power player, Rick Snyder must have gifted well enough over time to warrant the investment of $7.5 Million in taxpayer funds to his own business venture; Ardesta. More below the fold.... (2 comments, 647 words in story) Full Story By Rougman, Section News
A person born on the same day that John Dingell became a member of the House of Representatives could be retiring from any number of professions today. They could have gone through high school, college, and now be approaching thirty five years of service.
I personally was born several years after Dingell first took office, and I began receiving AARP sign-up invitations a couple years ago. There are few problems in America today that did not arrive while John Dingell sat in office. This is not to say that Dingell was pivotal in the creation of all of these problems, but it is certainly important to note that his presence in Congress did little to avoid them. This morning Dingell announced that he will once again be seeking reelection. "Now is not the time to walk away" said the crusty octogenarian. If not now, when? Political Agenda with Danian Michael I don't know if you are familiar with the television series, "Star Trek: The Next Generation," but one of its episodes provides an interesting illustration. In it, the crew encounters a hostile and advanced alien race called the Borg. One of their amazing abilities is to adapt to the weapons used against them. When they attack our heroes on the Starship Enterprise, the crew is able to kill just two of the Borg. They were not able to kill three, because by then the Borg had adapted to their weapons. What they did was both amazing and easily anticipated: the Enterprise crew stopped firing! Since their weapons no longer had any effect, why should they continue to fire?
Let's leave that analogy for a moment and consider another one (I will reveal what that particular story of the Enterprise crew and their encounter with the Borg is analogous to shortly). It's eight in the afternoon and you are about to have dinner with your family. All of a sudden the phone rings and intrudes on your privacy; the caller identification is displaying, "Caller Unknown," and immediately you think to yourself, "don't they know people have Caller ID and that their telemarketing won't work?" But the world of telemarketing plays the averages; if one person out of every twenty they call commit to using their services then those nineteen busy signals, answering machines, and rejections were worth it for them. It is a fact that telemarketing works, and that is why it continues. Presidential candidates don't spend millions on phone banks and directory listings for fun. I myself worked the phone banks for President Bush when he was running for re-election in 2004 and I was able to make a difference... Bush won. (18 comments, 1096 words in story) Full Story
