An interesting piece happened to turn up on Roll Call regarding the number of former SoS entering U.S. Senate races.
"We may have decent name ID, but it's weak brand ID. That was something I discovered when I ran," Grayson continued. "Despite the higher profile, it's not like it's a natural pivot into the next statewide race. And I think sometimes that puts us in a bit of a tough spot, because there's this perception that maybe we're stronger candidates than we really are." So, one has to ask, exactly what has Terri Lynn Land done other than hold a ho-hum title? I mean besides running an abject failure 2010 campaign with this twice failed anti-2A dope that split the Party just enough to allow Rick Michigan's nose under the tent. Did a 2014 Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land lead a charge against Obamacare expansion in Michigan, known as Snydercaid? Nope. If you believe so, please, provide a link showing anywhere she did. It's not like Terri, and her hubby don't have the coin and didn't have the time to bird dog the Nerd bus crisscrossing the state when JenniRick embarked on his Tour de Harassment. Bottom line. Where the Hell is Terri Lynn Land?!?!

Pick up the house phone please, you have 110 Representatives anxiously awaiting.
Perhaps speaking to 38 would have been easier. However next week, there will be a reconciliation between the Senate amended version and the house version of HB4714. Of course you realize that failure to stand at such an important juncture, in opposition to Obamacare, would not be well received in the conservative community? I have no doubt that after Bobby Schostak and Team Snyder snubbed you with their attempt to run Dave Camp, that you know where your base of support has been. The phone is in the corner next to the plane ticket to DC. (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
The 14th Congressional District Republican Committee last evening passed a resolution opposing the expansion of Medicaid and the implementation of health care exchanges.
The committee resolution states
IT IS THE SENSE of the 14th CDRC Officers and Members that expanding Medicaid at the behest of the federal government runs contrary to the principles of the Republican Party, which opposes government-run health care, economic interventionism, and federal control of private industry.Indeed. And this is not the ONLY Republican committee to do so. 64 days.. (5 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Norm Hughes, chair of the Michigan Conservative Union (MCU) writes the following
An open letter to our state senators:
Medicaid Expansion Issue 101: The audacious statement is that we will each save $400 a year on insurance premiums because the Federal government will pick up the cost of indigent patients. The Truth: It was almost unbelievable that a businessman now legislator in the House used this as rationale for voting to add 470,000 more Michigan residents to Medicaid, a key element of implementing ObamaCare and driving more debt for our children and grandchildren to pay, doubled by interest. The USA federal government is broke and has an insatiable appetite to spend more than it takes in. When you are in a deep hole the first rule of survival is to stop digging. Here are some points to reflect on regarding this statement: Below the fold is a point by point. (531 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
MIDLAND -- Gov. Rick Snyder's 2012 State of the State address included five proposed expansions of government and one limitation, according to Mackinac Center Fiscal Policy Director Michael D. LaFaive, who has tallied and categorized annual State of the State addresses as far back as 1969.
"Gov. Snyder seemed to focus more on new programs than on limiting government's scope," said LaFaive. "However, if last year's address is an indicator, he may be understating his plans to lessen the impact and cost of government in the coming year. Like last year, the governor intends a series of legislative updates, which along with his budget presentation may give us a better understanding of his policy agenda." LaFaive noted that last year the governor offered a disappointing three limitations of government in his proposal, only to rein in the state in many more areas than he outlined in his address. "I am hopeful that the actual work accomplished by his administration is once again more inspiring than the vision laid forth tonight," LaFaive added. The results of the annual tally are below.
