The 14th Congressional District Republican Committee last evening passed a resolution opposing the expansion of Medicaid and the implementation of health care exchanges.

    The committee resolution states

IT IS THE SENSE of the 14th CDRC Officers and Members that expanding Medicaid at the behest of the federal government runs contrary to the principles of the Republican Party, which opposes government-run health care, economic interventionism, and federal control of private industry.

THEREFORE, we recommend, to those representing our district in the Michigan House and Senate, a NO vote on HB 4714 or any other legislation pertaining to an expansion of state Medicaid eligibility and funding, or the implementation and funding of any health care exchange associated with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act within the State of Michigan.

Adopted at a regular meeting on July 16, 2013

    Indeed.

And this is not the ONLY Republican committee to do so.

. . . quoted verbatim from the original:

Michigan's Third Congressional District Republican Committee
    Resolution 001-2013

WHEREAS, the passage and implementation of House Bill 4714 (Substitute H-3) ("HB 4714") is not consistent with the conservative values published in the 2012 Republican Platform, which states that Republicans will work to repeal Public Law 111-148, the Patient Protections and Affordable Care Act ("PPACA") in all its forms.

WHEREAS, it is required that those representing the Third District in the Michigan House of Representatives and Senate, vote NO on HB 4714, or any other legislation related to an expansion of state Medicaid eligibility and funding, or the implementation and funding of any Health Care Exchange associated with the PPACA within the State of Michigan.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that any sitting member of - or candidate for - the Michigan House of Representatives or Senate violate this Resolution, any and all monetary and logistical support by the Third Congressional District Republican Committee will be suspended immediately.

This Resolution is adopted by unanimous vote on June 18, 2013.
