  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Romney had a few things to say last night.  One of them prompting the Michigan Fair Tax folks to set the record straight.

Kalamazoo Sept.13, 2011 - Because a politician or candidate says it, does not make it true.

In a response to a question in the September 12 Republican presidential debate about the FairTax Mitt Romney stated that the FairTax will help the rich and poor but hurt the middle class.  Because the question was asked only of Mitt Romney, no other candidate had the opportunity to respond to Romney's statement and the public was left with only the unsubstantiated statement by Romney.

Some of America's brightest economists have conducted studies on the FairTax that show that Americans of every income level and family status fare better under the FairTax than under the current income tax system.  There is no study by any reputable economist that shows otherwise.

    More Below the line.

Is it too late? Has the Obama administration done to Michigan what it has done to the Gulf Coast?

In its inability to offer rule exclusions necessary for the building of berms needed to prevent the oil from reaching sensitive areas, the Obama administration doomed those sensitive areas to an ugly death state for many years to come.  And with its political connections and the Chicago interests willing to ignore the destruction of our natural resources here in the great lakes, the president has now earned yet another star for ignorance and incompetent leadership.  The Free press reports the carp are here:

"Several members of Congress were notified today of the find. The creature, found by commercial fishermen looking for carp as part of wider carp hunting missions, was 34.6 inches long and weighed just under 20 pounds.

This is the first time anyone has found an Asian carp, live or dead, beyond an electric barrier on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal near Lockport. The nearest carp to the barrier was a dead one found last December after a massive poisoning of the shipping canal. "

And it was a small one.

In Traverse City yesterday, Representative Dave Camp, and AG Mike Cox brought together a panel for a presentation on the ongoing silver (Asian) carp debate. In a standing room only event, we were able to get an overview of the efforts made by Cox's office and Camps office, and yes, even Granholm's office on this important issue.

It is a big deal.. We have a limited time to do something ultimately, or the nature of our great lakes region will be altered negatively forever.  Its estimated the one part of Michigan's economy that remains could be damaged quite literally making the state non-viable. Damage to the economy estimated in the tens of $Billions for Michigan alone.

The effect of doing nothing has its consequence.  Its there in front of us. We have watched it like a plague growing northward from the Mississippi.

So why are we facing opposition>?
