  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

I have, my entire adult life, desired to accomplish one thing above all others.  Beyond what normal men might find worth aspiring to, I have always wanted to win one when it really mattered.  To just once be the guy it all rides on when it's on the line . . . and deliver the goods.  To slay the dragon, save the world, and get the girl . . . film at eleven.  To, for one moment in time, have my "A game" firing on all cylinders . . . and be utterly unstoppable.

However, God, in his wisdom, has heretofore seen fit to withhold from me such success . . . until last weekend.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

The Possibility of a Brokered Convention

Last week, I received a fairly interesting e-mail from Matt Kibbe over at FreedomWorks.  The subject line ("BROKERED CONVENTION:  Who Would You Support?") I'll admit was an attention getter.

    According to the letter:

"As the Presidential race heats up, the GOP Establishment is trying to control the process and tell you that this race is all over with only few states and a miniscule number of delegates already decided.  That is simply not true.  It is still very likely that no candidate receives a majority of the delegates heading into the Republican National Convention.  If this happens and you were a delegate to the convention, you would have the opportunity to support ANYONE, whether they are currently in the race or not."

On that note, let's grab a cup of coffee and go below the fold, shall we, because this could get fairly interesting.

Detained for being in possession of ... money?

A man who was traveling home following a Campaign For Liberty (Ron Paul) event was detained and harassed by TSA in St. Louis for carrying cash.  Yup, for the intolerable offense of carrying currency you too can be held in police custody.  Federal tyranny grows on the back of locals who have an ego, and a desire for power over others, completely oblivious to their role to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. (Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759)
