If we are to believe the drive-by media meme that's been in the political news cycle for the past week or so, we're already in the general campaign for the 2012 presidential election. Never mind that His Mittenness is still between 468 and 594 committed delegates short of the number needed in order to secure a pre-convention majority. Ignore the truths that Newt Gingrich is still in this race, and that Rick Santorum is still entitled to most of his delegate accumulation. Right now, as far as the mainstream press is concerned, all we republicans should be caring about is how much money Romney can raise in order to credibly challenge Obama and who he ought to select as his running mate.
Yet again, we need to go back to Yogi Berra . . . and then go below the fold.

Just under a month ago, when the Michigan "Dele-Gate" Fiasco was still something of a big deal, one of the founding mothers of the Michigan tea party movement decided to use my current place of employment as an excuse-of-convenience to challenge my credibility, and by extension my integrity. Because I do not permit such a challenge to go unanswered, I responded directly to her (though it never seems to have cleared the moderator's flag), as well as within Jason's post the following day (as one of the comments):
I don't know what any of y'all do or don't know about those in the sea services (Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), but if you're going to challenge the integrity of such a person, then you'd better have proof-in-hand that the challenge is valid . . . otherwise it gets unpleasant in a hurry. That, by the way, applies to veterans of those services as well. As Nick DeLeeuw pointed out a few years ago, different "go" words apply in different cultures. I'm a retired sailor, so there're plenty of tags you can legitimately hang on me, many will be accurate, and not all will be kind. But to accuse a Sailor, Marine, or even a Coastie of being either a "thief" or a "liar" . . .

Anyone who looks at the date in the bottom left corner would immediately know we are looking at Saul Anuzis, Bobby Schostak, Sharon Wise, and Bill Runco, as the subjects described in the headline.
The joke, however, is on us. They aren't going anywhere. A month later, its as if nothing has happened. Bobby Schostak remains in a position of trust at the top of the MiGOP, Anuzis has started his reelection bid for the super-delegate spot, (committeeman) Sharon Wise is doing as she is told and continuing damage control, and who the heck knows who/what Bill Runco is doing? And some are beginning to ask why we pursue this. Their concern is over the damage done to the upcoming political contests pointed at those of us who are calling out the corrupt acts as we observe them. Why would we do this to the Republican party? Why would we undermine the very tool which is there to help elect Republicans to office? What gives us the right to be judge, jury, executioner? An answer: Wrong is wrong. We must self police. And since they are still here? At best we are simply the constable, or maybe a little bit of prosecutor. More below ~ (3 comments, 878 words in story) Full Story By Kevin Rex Heine, Section News
And no, I'm not talking about Randy Richardville, though I agree that he needs to go, too. Nope, I'm referring to a different scoundrel here.
Last Sunday, on the Dump Saul Anuzis facebook page, I wrote:
"While all of this various and sundry political talk is very fascinating, let's please keep our primary objective in mind . . . that of dumping Saul Anuzis as Michigan's RNC National Committeeman. We do need to start recruiting a potential challenger, and develop a delegate strategy (using the 2010 pool) to accumulate the votes necessary to dump him." The conversation threads, both on the page and in the group, were starting to get a tad afield of the original purpose, which is to focus the efforts to replace Saulius Anuzis as Michigan's Republican National Committeeman. Best to stay focused here, as we only have about seven weeks left to work with. Grab a pot of coffee, and let's go below the fold.

So, is it a 274 delegate margin, a 233 delegate margin, a 173 delegate margin, or a 116 delegate margin currently separating Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum? How deeply is Newt Gingrich locked into third place? And if Ron Paul's been mathematically eliminated from a statistically certain pre-convention majority, then why is he still campaigning? We know the answer to the third question (at least we think we do), but those first two aren't mere academic questions, and answering them might help in understanding why Anuzis and his Backroom Band are sticking to the meme that Romney is supposed to get both of Michigan's at-large delegates to this summer's national convention . . . in spite of all the verifiable evidence otherwise.
And while we're at it, we're going to connect a few dots and see what we see.

How appropriate that the call for a head count be the very word which describes the event just before the GOP implodes.
To preface this, I do not give a Rats A$$ which candidate's team posted this up. As many of you may know, We have been actively recruiting delegates throughout the state of Michigan to toss the corruption from the party with prejudice. Georgia's Republican party problems are not unique, and we face the ignoring of the rules regularly in our own state as well.
Make no mistake, the technology today gives us the best opportunity to regain control over our party, but if you don't show up for the fight you cannot win. (2 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Some media folks have expressed an interest in seeing the entire body of work from this site on the "Dele-Gate" affair.
We wouldn't want to let them down. It IS the Ides of March after all. As an aside, should anyone think this is fun, think again. While we occasionally try to offer a little humor in some of the presentation, the fight for the soul of our state party is nothing to laugh at. Some of us prefer rule of law, transparency, accountability, and an open acceptance of responsibility for mistakes made. We identify what is wrong, attempt to repair, take ownership where necessary, then move on. And others? Its about mitigating damage, but not correcting what is wrong. The lie begets the lie, and as we have all seen the same theme in the worst TV show and movie plots, it always results in more embarrassment than if the fault was accepted up front. So Fun? No. I never much cared for those shows, as it ticked me off to see such willful deceit with an obvious end. Our current reading list on this subject is below the fold.
