Tag: Bill Schuette (page 4)By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Just noticed the State is proudly boasting its use of Federal Debt Dollars to pay for gotchya zones staffed by designated Revenue Enhancement Officers now through June 3.
Local police departments, sheriff offices and Michigan State Police posts covering 26 counties are participating in the Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign which runs through June 3 and includes the Memorial Day holiday. The effort is supported with federal traffic safety funds, administered by OHSP, allowing for additional police officers to be out on patrol. Folks actually want more of this kinda crap in their life's? Amazing. (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Received this today:
Dear Michigan Republicans, I prefer a real primary where substance wins over who is next in line. The "sender" being Bill Schuette, undoubtedly aware his name is being used, has likely not seen even seen this. Nice machine you have there MI GOP. You should note there are a number of better choices available for our selection in 2012. A number of folks who ACTUALLY have principles. Bill, I know you watch this from time to time. I would back off your endorsement, or just give in to the Obamacare mandate like a good party loyalist. Hell, Snyder doesn't even have your back. Mitt will likely do nothing to remove it from the books. Modify? Yeah probably, but remove? Nah. Ain't gonna happen. The party is not over, but it will be different. Think about that MR gover.. err Attorney General. (4 comments) Comments >> By jenkuz, Section News

At the October 10 Tea Party Rally in Lansing.
We have news that Michigan Supreme Court Justice Robert Young has been added to the speakers list for the "Sovereignty Tea Party" Rally held on the Michigan Capitol steps Sunday October 10, 2010.
The Rally is to demonstrate support for the 10th amendment. Organizers call out: "Join your fellow Michigan patriots as we support our 10th Amendment Sovereignty rights against Unconstitutional Federal over reach such as ObamaCare, a prime example of national law that oversteps state jurisdiction and results in the loss of rights of Michigan's citizens!" 10th amendment violations by the federal government has been a major issue often noted by Tea Partiers. 8AM rules committee thing tomorrow.. Some are concerned it will be designed to favor particular candidates. Hopefully on the up and up. Chairing it will be Jason Allen. Fair play gentlemen, is key to restoring trust within the party. You cannot afford to blow this opportunity, and you may.
Betty Weaver is on the Bus.. What I find to be a strange event, is the appearance of Elizabeth Weaver at our Traverse city Pick up Spot for the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally Bus heading to DC. Had the pleasure of an hour long conversation between GR and Okemos, where she boarded the bus to head to the event. Apparently a big Beck fan. Robo Calls suck.. No fewer than 20 Robo calls a day as a reward for becoming a precinct delegate. Bill Schuette, Michelle McManus and Mike Bishop topped the list. Question.. Do we have a THIRD alternative to the AG nod? Non identified emails, and fake websites set up to encourage voting by delegates.. THEMICHIGANREPORT.COM is as fake as reporting blogs go. Anyone who cannot put their name or normally used moniker on their work is hardly worth paying attention to. FAIL. More below.. I recently received an anonymous email criticizing Bill Schuette for certain decisions on the Court of Appeals. The email was so ludicrously awful, I almost deleted it immediately, but then I thought again -- it's an election year, and people who aren't familiar with the law might accept this as some sort of authority. Hence, we set the record straight here, by reposting my emailed response:
I join with Joan Fabiano in condemning this ridiculous attack on Bill Schuette. While everyone has a right to his or her opinion, no one has a right to be wrong on the facts. The anonymous person who attacked Judge Schuette for decisions in three cases involving criminal sentencings clearly does not understand the law or criminal procedure. These decisions show that Judge Schuette understands and applies the law as it is written. Moreover, the anonymous sender completely mischaracterizes the decisions themselves. A little insight to what is happening in the left right debate in the state of Michigan.
No one can argue the successes of Bill Schuette in realizing a lead of opinion early on for the republican AG nod. For the Record, I have not endorsed Schuette, nor is this an endorsement. However, like our socialist counter parts, the Michigan Democrat party, I recognize Schuette is the guy to beat in the selection process, (he is carrying well over 100 law enforcement head endorsements currently) and frankly he is expected to make it to the November ballot easily. The Dems knowing this however, have had to dig really deep to find anything negative to attack the would be candidate before the selection is made. They would hope to skewer his bid in the short run so their candidate David Leyton has less trouble with the formidable Schuette organization. So they have decided to lay out some cash for ads.. Official business? Not much happening this weekend. Sure, technically the delegates to the Michigan Republican State Convention will be electing Ambassador Ron Weiser to be the next Chairman of the Party. Yep, they'll be selecting a variety of Vice Chairs and other Party positions, too, but most of those races sorted themselves out before activists and volunteers converged on the Capitol City.
This Convention has been about something else entirely. Energy. The juice bouncing between the Radisson and the Lansing Center (the event is huge, with thousands of attendees, and spread over the two downtown buildings) has been unbelievable. Folks are ready to brush off last November's setbacks and are pumped about getting to work on the future. Welcome to the Convention. The weekend started around 4pm when GOP candidates for various statewide posts hosted receptions to say hello to the out-staters making their way to the Capitol.
The newest gubernatorial candidate, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land had a massive crowd. Attorney General candidate and current Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop had one going too. So did AG candidate Bill Schuette, maybe the biggest of the afternoon. Read on... (445 words in story) Full Story
