    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

AFP Targets Peters For Obamacare Role

    Holy cow.

Maybe I, or better yet, my cat, should run for Michigan's US Senate race. After the (deserved) beat-down Peters is receiving, and expected to receive up until election day I think my fat little furry friend could win on policy alone.

Americans For Prosperity is reminding Michiganians that Gary Peters was one of those congress critters who lack common sense, doesn't know how to read, do math or learn from history. The Michigan chapter of Americans for Prosperity, the nation's foremost grassroots advocate for health care freedom, launched a million-dollar multimedia campaign on Tuesday, aimed at holding Rep. Gary Peters accountable for his support of the ObamaCare mess.

Television, radio and online ads launch across the state today and will run for three weeks at a cost of roughly $1 million. The television component will run on both broadcast and cable. The TV Ad and other data are ..

Michigan AFP Director Responds To SOTU

Michigan Americans For Prosperity director Scott Hagerstrom comments on last night's SOTU.

Given the current debate on what to do about the Health Care Exchanges, Medicaid, and money like manna from Washington Hagerstrom's comments are to the point.  He tells RightMichigan.com:

"President Obama delivered more empty promises on health care reform last night. What he wants to call the Affordable Care Act is anything but. Despite all evidence to the contrary, he claimed the law was already helping to slow rising health care costs. In reality, the president's plans are putting high-quality, affordable health care even further out of reach for many Americans. The legislature should turn down a grant from the feds to build a health insurance exchange. It is poisoned candy that will only subject Michigan taxpayers to the byzantine regulations and unworkable costs associated with this law.

Similarly, expanding Medicaid under Obamacare will push even more people onto a broken system that often leads to worse health outcomes than having no insurance at all. In Michigan, nearly 1 in 5 doctors refuses to even see new patients on that failing plan. The federal money to fund more Medicaid will likely dry up, eventually leaving Michiganders to foot the bill once again.

The reduction of professionals who wish to partner with an ever increasing regulatory bureaucracy will indeed show itself with the reduction of health care choices over time.  Count on it.

Noting the willingness of Obama to push the taking of our liberties to the limit, Hagerstrom demonstrates confidence in those who are paying attention here in Michigan.

In his State of the Union Address, President Obama promised his next round of health care reforms will "go even further." If it's more "government-knows-best" bureaucracy and bottomless spending, Michiganders are saying thanks but no thanks.
    Pretty much.

    Yep.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Mitt's Bumpy Ride In Michigan

Mitt Romney's literature and signs have been at every Republican event for years.  He had quite an organization in 2008 with signs that said, "Michigan for Mitt," with the cute reference of the appearance of the lower peninsula being a mitten, and Mitt's name, well, it's just precious.

But here we are, 9 days from Michigan's Presidential Primary, which the GOP in Michigan moved up and lost half of it's delegates as a result, and now Mitt has to actually compete.

Mitt lost Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, South Carolina, and Minnesota, and may lose Maine.  He has so far won New Hampshire and Florida.

So as I read what is happening downstate and about how wonderful Mitt is, I noticed how the press says Romney has not defended the auto bailout, and that it will hurt him.   Michigan Republicans defend the auto-bailout because Michigan is the auto industry and it's too big to fail, etc.

But the auto rescue is an awkward issue in a state in which both Republicans and Democrats wholeheartedly supported it.

Even if he wins Michigan, Mr Romney will still be dogged by the auto rescue in the general election. Mr Patterson, a supporter, says: "That's something that Mitt is going to have to address."

Then I typed, "Mitt Romney supported auto bailouts," into my little google search thingy and I found out that he flip-flopped on that issue too.

AFP Ads Target those working with pelosi

Michigan has its share of "collaborators" with the Obama Pelosi plan of destroying our economy.

One of them targeted by Americans For Prosperity advertising is Mark Schauer..

But next to Schauer's capitulation with the leftist agenda is the liklihood of that by 1st district seat contender Gary McDowell. (below the fold)
