    The Soap Opera

The nincumpoops in Michigan's government can't seem to ween themselves from handing out freebies to Hollyweird.  Won't be too long and Charlie Sheen will be the new director of Michigan's Film Incentives Give-a-way Board sharing yuk yuks with Michael Moore, Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Mitch Albom, Rev. Jackson and all of the communist inspired directors they so love.

a bit but....how much longer before this hits Michigan?

    http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/03/11/wisconsin-unions-threaten-businesses/#more-241348

I have always supported police and firefighters but this is just plain disgusting.  Those we hire to protect us are now threatening private citizens with a boycott.  Does that include not responding to an emergency situation at this man's business?

How far they have fallen to resort to this.

a VCU study showing a decidedly smaller percentage would work.  Not 42%, but:
"LOOK.. the math says 2%.. 2% of film budget is what VCU was talking about! where did the other 40% come from? Oh my god, we are about to have some serious buyers remorse.. I hope we at least get royalties.. at least an autographed DVD..."

From my Report on the incentive plan in July of 2008

    I've got it! (none / 0) (#4)

I have a solution to provide all the free money Hollywood-wannabe crowd can desire.

It actually came to me when I was reminded me of the hassle I recent went through with the S.o.S. renewing my CDL, license plates, certifications, etc so that I can legally work.

No, this isn't a kvetch and moan post about paying for of those (mostly). Registrations are supposed to go towards road maintenance. Trust me, we need all the road maintenance we can get here in Michigan.

The thing here is that I'm paying for something that I directly use, which I don't have a problem with.

So why not apply the same principle towards the left-coast set?

Using Michael Moore-math, imposing a 100% tax on the incomes from those working in the movie-industry (i.e. Mitch Album, Jeff Daniels, Michael Moore..it'll be tough, but he'll survive) we will have more than enough money support film credits here in Michigan. If that money runs dry, we can slap a property tax on their homes so that the money never stops.

Any legislators want to be the first to propose this and shut up the Hollywood-crowd?

Just be sure to tack a $1 appropriation onto it so it cannot be overruled by the voters.
