  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Leave it to SE Michigan's Moscow on the Huron to go the way of control freak Mayor Doomberg.

University of Michigan Health System and the University of Michigan Medical School will no longer peddle sugary drinks in their cafeterias and vending machines, banning the sale of everything from sodas to sweetened coffees.
    ....

"It is part of our effort to model healthy behaviors," said Pete Barkey, a spokesman for the health system.

And when U of M's "effort" does not include the use of my tax dollars, they are free to do whatever the Hell they want.

But several other efforts to reduce access have bred backlash for going to far to restrict personal choice. Courts have ruled that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's push to ban the sale of sugary drinks in containers larger than 16 ounces was illegal.

The Left is "pro choice" when comes to killing babies and Teh Ghey marriage.  Have a soft drink?  Forgettaboutit.  All those mentally ill cretins are fully deserving to be mocked.

That babe ^ is still the Big Gulp of Truth.

In the video below, I see Sen. Bob Corker, however, if one listens closely, all you'll hear is ousted Party Committeeman, and NPV lobbyist, Saul Anuzis embarrass himself debating a principled Conservative.

Thank you, Sen. Ted Cruz!  Keep exposing all the duplicitous dregs taking refuge in the GOP Big Tent for what they truly are - spineless, pandering, Democrat-lite Progressives.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Some Consensus Assembly Required

Gretchen Whitmer refers to it as a "civil war" (and Bill Ballenger tempers that to "controlled-fire civil war"); Todd Courser refers to it as "intense fellowship;" both Brian Calley and Wes Nakagiri refer to it as "a competition of ideas;" Saul Anuzis refers to it as "growing pains;" and Garrett Arwa cites it as evidence that the Michigan Republican Party is "coming apart at the seams."

Me?  I think the truth is somewhere in the middle of all of that.  I also think that these various characterizations dance around an interesting finding of the iCaucus Michigan survey, but which wasn't referred to in the press release in a way that would draw attention, and which by itself explains why a top-down approach to Michigan Republican Party unity is never going to work.

Usually a video diversion, however, today y'all's get some reading.

    A Schizophrenic Elephant

    (Excerpt)

Every now and then, a Republican Party leader must feel tempted to stand up and say. "Folks, you've got us wrong. We don't really stand for any of the things that you think we do. We like small business, in theory. But we like big business more. That's about all we have in common. Also we're still against Communism, not that it matters anymore. But we're fine with having a lot of government agencies. We created most of them. And we like abortion and gay rights. We're also on board with Global Warming, illegal immigration and some international law."

That rarely happens. It rarely happens because that Republican Party is the one that was nearly consigned to oblivion in the first half of the last century. And as the Romney campaign showed, running on a platform of nothing but big business is not very inspiring. If Romney had actually been honest about his views, instead of dressing them up to win  the primaries, he would have done even worse in the general election.

    REST

Personally, outside of Sen. Ted Cruz, maybe a couple others in the House, and the Sarahcuda dabbling around the fringe of GOP, I don't see it as worth saving.

M'kay, let 'er rip... or, not.  Whatever.

    We Have Work To Do

I am in-between flights at this moment, and thought I might share a little something about the Righty Blogosphere.

The well being of our nation might well fall on the reporting and writing done here, on other conservative blogs, and in new media in general.

The dead tree media has no interest in printing the whole truth.  Obama's pet peacock is certainly not going to offer a scintilla of balanced challenge to the president, even while their stockholders take some of the hits that come with a failing economy.  CNN?  Right.  None of the news 'giants' are expected to offer a fair balance of criticism towards 'the won', and Romney might have gains seen, only to be followed up by another revealing look at his childhood; perhaps a toilet papering incident.

And THEN we have to deal with the folks who don't seem to like us so much (as we pad their electoral majorities) like Brooks Patterson.  Someone who might consider a veteran and engineer unsuitable because he cannot be put underfoot.  That kind of battle is unnecessary and unfortunately bruises feelings a bit.  It stresses the relationships we need in the November cycle.  The one's that used to spawn THEIR question: "will you support our guy in Nov?"

    We have.  Will they reciprocate?

With a multifaceted task at hand, we proceed.  We have a responsibility to provide the truth, and speak out for our true conservative brothers.  We also can have some fun in the meantime.

My final flight is in 40 minutes.  Go below the fold and enjoy.

Jennifer Granholm's swipe at Mark Levin isn't about his ideology, but hers.

Mark Levin linked to a story in the Atlantic about what former Governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, reads on a daily basis. She cited a number of progressive and liberal columnists, as well as liberal journalists and news outlets. But, she also had to tell all of us how she hates Rush and Mark Levin.
"If I had to name people I don't like, I'd say Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin. It's that breed of real toxic-spewers who are really damaging to our discourse. I'd be embarrassed to have my mom or dad listen to them. I don't think they shouldn't be on the radio but when the rhetoric inflames and exaggerates to the point of lacking integrity, that bothers me."

    Mark Levin reacted,
Aw Jennifer, the feeling is mutual...

    -- Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) April 20, 2012

    Heh, heh.

I live in Michigan, and can talk for hours about how exactly Jennifer Granholm screwed over this beautiful State for many years to come. And, of course it is because of her leftist ideology that she obviously practices on a daily basis. The easiest way I can think of to persuade the reader that her ideology is the problem is simply to take what she said and translate it. Hey, we lived with her for eight years, Michiganders know her.
