  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    The Wild Bill Conley Show

Yesterday a Judge killed a lot of babies.

U.S. District Judge William M. Conley in what has become a more commonly performed feat of judicial activism, hit the pause button on a law that would have required abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges:

Without Conley's action, one clinic would have had to cancel 30 abortions or related appointments, with additional cancellations also needed at the other two clinics, attorneys for the plaintiffs said Monday.
    Bang.

And then he blew the smoke off the tip of his pen.

    Yet I was wrong?

    No Not really

U.S. District Judge William Conley granted the order following a hearing in a lawsuit filed Friday by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and Affiliated Medical Services.
    By design.

Justice - Well Maybe A Little

    Kermit Gosnell is a murderer.

That is the conclusion in a trial that had a logical outcome; that killing babies outside the womb is obvious murder.  Never let the fact that the snipped spinal cords of those children who never took a breath ended a number of miracles violently, yet were never prosecuted. How much of a leap is it to go from the 'fetal' slaughter to something that separates it by only the potential of minutes? (post term 'abortion')

Not a big leap at all.

Murder; the abnormality of the thought process that regards the calculated killing of the most defenseless among us as normal or "progressive". Gosnell simply followed to the logical end of such policy until it was seen for what it is. And now he faces the consequence:

"A Philadelphia doctor was found guilty Monday of murdering three babies born alive in an abortion clinic, Fox News confirms. He was acquitted in the fourth baby's death, and found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of an adult patient."
    Three murders and 'collateral damage'.

The horror that is Gosnell and his evil actions is unfortunately not unique. Abortion mills still operate freely in this country and our state, performing late term abortions, snuffing out lives with beating hearts, and savaging what little is left of our nation's humanity. Detroit alone boasts a 38% baby murder rate.  To think that that Gosnell's acts blur the lines of acceptability says much about our failure to recognize the same thing happening in utero in numbers that have totaled tens of millions in the last 4 decades alone.

Gosnell's evil is simply the face of a corrupted culture.  Nothing to see here.

    Right?

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    On Gosnell

I have started a half dozen times to comment on the Kermit Gosnell trial, and usually cannot finish.

The barbarism that hides behind the pleasant names like 'family planning' and "women's health' and even the not-so-vile 'birth control' is enough to make one just stop and stare at the keyboard in a very unproductive way. The shock that some of the photos elicit is perfectly natural, and it stops one cold. Up to full grown babies, murdered with a snipped spinal cord, and snuffed out by people who might otherwise be more sympathetic to PETA.  Callous and dangerous conditions that not only serve to murder the unborn, but also have claimed the lives of the confused mothers who were fooled into thinking their act was acceptable; and some who changed their minds held prisoner till the assassin's contract was complete.

How can we tolerate such atrocities, and those agencies which promote them? In Detroit, more than one in three (38%) of pregnancies end with the contract 'hit' on a defenseless baby. Is that even remotely acceptable?

That is all I can say.

Perhaps a couple of others can pick up where I can only leave off.

Of Course There Are Children Dying

    In Connecticut, Michigan, wherever.

This is not intended as a coldhearted statement, but rather an observation that is crying out for recognition.

Dead kids, property destruction, general disregard for our fellow man.  All of it resulting from exactly the opposite message of what founded our great nation.  Our current bizarro world would not be complete without death being the 'preferred' alternative to a woman not being able to play around unfettered by the inconvenience of pregnancy, without the labor unions calling for the 'rights' of workers to be protected by placing shackles on their legs, or the game played by progressive thinkers which sets rules that define taking as morally preferable to voluntary concession.

There could hardly be a dry eye out there from parents of 5 to 10 year old children after yesterday's tragedy in CT.  In fact, anyone with a soul left in these dark times must feel for those parents and family members who had only days before had the highest dreams for their happy little treasures. Even the souls scarred with the axiomatic wrist cutting belief that abortions are OK, or those with sociological defects that believe that honor killing or personal slavery is ever appropriate, must hide their eyes lest the world witness their hypocrisy.

The world is doing its pole shift, not in the geological sense, but in logic and reasoning and common sense.  Our civilization is running its moral clock backward.

What stretch of the imagination is it to see a people who are immersed in a culture of death such as that experienced in Detroit, which sports a near 38% abortion rate, and leaves a lesson for those who survive, that life is not sacred? How can we be surprised at the destruction of hot dog carts, and tents, and personal property by union members who have been told that "its OK to break things in your fight to retain dominion over your brother"?  What level of coercive (violence based) taxation is enough for ANY political party, when each scheme rewarding some, must be borne on the backs of others, involuntarily?

Are we as a nation ready to appropriately answer these questions?

    Continued below the fold.

When Life Is Better Than Death

I had for a long time been a proponent of the death sentence.

Over the years, it wasn't just a casual consideration that brought into focus what is more of an appropriate punishment for a heinous crime such as murder or other violent acts that leave so many scarred forever.  It seemed that a logical non emotional solution was simply removing the offender from the face of the the earth forever.  Punishment that seemed so easily to fit a crime that cannot ever be properly redeemed.

An eye for an eye as it has been explained.

And the left has cried foul over the death penalty for those found guilty forever. They have exclaimed "Thou hypocrites!  When dost think it be right to murder a man for his deed, when crying foul for our murder of innocence in the womb?" "Do you so despise life as much as we?!"

hate to say it. Good point.  Better to let them claim the role as purveyors of wrongful death.

    But still ..

Michigan, by statute in 1846, abolished the death penalty.  In 1964, it constitutionally prohibited it.  And one must ask if life in prison is really a better fate than a merciful death. Especially when that life is especially long.

    A couple of missed things

Though they may have not gone unnoticed by me or any of the otherwise politically aware, we would be remiss if left out of our coverage here at RightMichigan.com.

First there is the new Partial Birth Murder prohibition:

Republican Gov. Rick Snyder signed the state ban into law Tuesday. Livingston pro-life groups are calling that a victory.

The laws define partial birth abortion as an abortion in which a living fetus is partially delivered and terminated in some manner.

Terminated.  By golly its just so much easier to say than killed painfully, murdered, slaughtered, etc.. At least there is another level of protection now available for those who have no defender otherwise.

Thank you for signing that into Law Governor Snyder.

The other item worth mentioning, (though not nearly as important)is the legislation that is expected to be signed by the governor as well that addresses "efficiency standards" for incandescent light bulbs though not directly.  It actually allows for the manufacture of incandescent bulbs in Michigan for the sale within Michigan.  This allows Michiganders to purchase the bulbs that would be otherwise banned by federal efficiency standards and the use of the 'commerce clause.'

We should be reminded that Congressman Fred Upton played a hand in the over regulating of such miniscule things as our personal lighting. Regulation which led us to this point where we must as a state, assert our sovereign authority in some manner to meet the best interests of Michiganders.

    Happy Saturday folks!
