    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Just Plain Fun

I never thought I would enjoy getting booed.

I mean maybe not actually enjoy the loud BOOOOOOO given by 75-100 demonstrators with hate filled resolve, but still feel .. umm I'm not sure.  Its just plain strange, but there was a thrill, perhaps even a weird exhilaration that these people took special notice as I walked through taking their pictures with my cell phone going into the governor's breakfast.  It was like they secretly LOVED [to hate] me.

Perhaps it was the realization that this is all they have.  The signs being carried to object to Snyder's budget, or EFM law or what have you, completely forgotten as the entire cadre of hard core lefties in the Grand Traverse region (from several counties I believe) turned to give me their full attention.  I realized the enjoyment of course as I burst out laughing at them, which made it louder.

Most of these folks were not the typical lefties mind you, they were the area's seasoned veterans who aren't afraid to block a sidewalk, lean on people's private vehicles, and generally prove that the maturity of the hyper liberal mind can be questionable.  As I have said before, I have Democrat friends.  And I know of a few who have even supported my efforts.  These folks in front of the venue holding the yearly affair, were the elite.

It was such a great crowd that I had to join them for a minute. So ... a friend had a camera, and the picture is below the line ...

There is a lot more to be said for the rally in Lansing from yesterday.  The stark contrast in how people behave, and the emotion level between this type of rally and what we as conservatives might engage in. (tea parties) Frequently surrounded by packs of union employees (NOT ALWAYS MEMBERS) from MESSA, MEA, UAW, we were not allowed to make any reasonable argument for more than 3 seocnds before hearing "Koch brothers!  "Corporate welfare! etc.."  Being shouted down was standard fare, and for the most part our group remained rather calm and dignified.

I say "for the most part" because I had to give an anthropological lesson to an English teacher at one point. (an explanation of the build up to fighting like apes) This was complete with an acted out sequence of what happens before two gorillas begin to tear out each other's throats. I don't believe he appreciated being taught, and wouldn't stop yelling after that, so I turned my back to him and began a conversation with a more reasonable person.

I went through some of the video from the Saturday February 26 rally in Lansing last night before hitting it. I would be lying if I said there were no civil conversations held, but frankly the few that were indeed civil, could not make up for the cat calls, the abusive language, and physical intimidation offered by those whom we disagree with.

For my part, I am convinced many of the labor union members that go to these rallies are little more than animals.  They operate on a feral code of emotional response akin to dogs in a pack.  Violent tendencies seem to be their commonality, with no regard to personal property, or the physical well being of their fellow man.  As one example, in the video below, my son was using the camera to pan across the crowd, but was identified as being with our small group of tea partiers.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Democratic Congressman's wife listening to hate-group's council

This is what the Michigan Democratic Party has to offer?

Their statewide slate for 2010 is already shaping up as one of the most extreme, far-left groups of out-of-touch politicians in recent memory.  John Cherry is `proudly' running on a record of failure and futility while their AG candidate, Gretchen Whitmer, makes Fieger-Time look as conservative as John Engler.  The only hope for the slate is potential SoS candidate Janice Winfrey, one of the few Democrats in Detroit with even a modicum of capability.

And now in two of the state's largest cities THIS is what voters are offered in Mayoral races?

The Flint Journal reports on the rapidly growing field of candidates for their leadership post, after it was vacated via the resignation of their last corrupt Democratic Mayor.  The list includes an ultra-liberal former legislator, a local board of education member and a failed former Democratic candidate who it appears only moved to the city to run for Mayor.  Among others.

But Flint looks positively cosmopolitan after reading the Motor City update courtesy of this morning's Detroit News.

The racist who orchestrated the City Council's decision to reject nearly $300 million in "free money" for Cobo Hall because out-staters would be involved in the project... the same woman who was recently arrested for a bar fight, who called her former colleague Shrek and who made fun of a political opponent's alleged battle with cancer, Congressman John Conyers' wife Monica says she might just run as a write-in candidate.

"People have asked me," said Conyers, who remains council president at least through the May 5 special election for Detroit mayor. "I haven't said anything. I just listened."

The Call 'Em Out Coalition is encouraging Conyers to run. The Detroit-based organization is known for the "Sambo" awards it bestows on people it feels are selling out Detroit. Representatives of the organization couldn't be reached for comment.

Cobo, for the record, is the "crown jewel of Detroit."  According to the good folks at CEOC.

"Sambo," by the way, is not a nice word.  The NAACP hasn't buried this one yet, but I'm sure its somewhere on their target list.

If any other politician, running for any other office, anywhere else in Michigan were considering accepting the support and listening to the council of a group that handed out "Sambo" awards, they'd be called on the carpet quicker than you can say "Jack Robinson."  Or in this case, "Jim Crow."

The wife of a Congressman should be held to no less intense a standard.  Just because the woman lives and works and operates in Detroit doesn't give her a pass to participate and legitimize these sorts of vile, repugnant racial politics.

For a "post-racial" America coming off the historic election of our first African-American President, Detroit sure is managing to put on an embarrassing show this week.  One way or the other, Congressman Conyers and his wife are going to tell the bigots and the hate-mongers where they can stick their brand of racism... they'll either justly and publicly denounce them, telling them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine or they'll quietly embrace them without a single word of outrage, making hate mainstream in the Motor City.

If their Cobo Hall shenanigans are any indication, we probably shouldn't get our hopes up.

Prominent Michigan Democrat makes fun of alleged cancer patient

"People are very hungry for something new. I think they are interested in being called to be a part of something larger than the sort of small, petty, slash-and-burn politics that we have been seeing over the last several years."-

    President Barack Obama

    So much for that.

Detroit City Council President Monica Conyers, the wife of Congressman John Conyers (MI-14) both reminded us of how absolutely hateful Democrats can be and personally destroyed another sliver of my faith in humanity when she accosted fellow council member Kwame Kenyatta, making fun of his alleged battle with cancer while being restrained by security officers from physically attacking the man.

What provoked her behavior?  Kenyatta dared request that official budget proposals be made in writing.

    That cad.  How dare he?!
